Family Traditions on Christmas Eve

Christmas Bauble by luigi diamantiand freedigitalphotos
I remember growing up think that the most exciting time of the holiday season was actually Christmas Eve. As a child of German heritage, Christmas Eve was our actual day to celebrate. In the evening, we would have a German meal of brats, Mom’s potato salad, and cold cuts, keeping it light and easy. We would then head for church and come home to open gifts. Christmas Day was spent with family and friends enjoying a lovely meal with all of the trimmings.

Today, I still keep those same traditions alive in my home, all the way down to preparing the same Christmas Eve dinner. We look forward to the delicious food from my moms recipe box and I am quite pleased that I am able to almost perfect her recipe for warm German potato salad! The smells remind me so much of home. My only disappointment is that I have not tried to perfect her Lebkuchen or other cookie recipes. Some day! Some day!

What are your traditions on Christmas Eve? It is time for family and friends, or a quiet time with immediate family? I know some people decorate the tree on Christmas Eve. I love to hear about other holiday traditions as everyone has a unique twist on the holiday festivities. Share yours with us! Merry Christmas!

Decorate Your Home with Beautiful Wreaths

Decorate Your Home with Beautiful Wreaths

Christmas Holiday Wreath from Creekside FarmsDecorating your home for the holidays is a way to welcome guests into your home and to set a festive mood for the upcoming holiday. One way I like to decorate my home is by purchasing beautiful wreaths that I can hang indoors or out. Matter of fact, every year I purchase at least 3 fresh wreaths to decorate my home.

This year I was super excited to receive a holiday wreath from Creekside Farms which is a family-owned and operated business. All of the wreaths that they sell are artisan-made with quality materials. You can find everyday wreaths or wreaths for special occasions and holidays.

The one I received for the review was the “Fragrant Holiday Wreath” in the 16″ size. They are also available in an 18″ size and with a hanger or light kit as optional add-ons. These are not skimpy wreaths…they are super full and lush!

It is made of fresh salal, eucalyptus, and cedar, and accented with white achilia of the pearl, pinecones, and wired red wine ribbon. It is very fragrant but NOT over-powering at all. It can be hung indoors or on your front door to welcome your guests.

One of the things that really impressed me is how well-packaged the wreath is when it arrives to your door. It is very secure in that shipping box and once you take it out, it is ready to hang. Mine arrived within days of the order being placed!

Everything about this wreath is just beautiful! The artisans who make them are very talented that is for sure! They did a wonderful job with the materials that they used and I love that the only “pop” of color is that dark red wired edge ribbon bow. It makes a statement hanging on the front door to my home!

I am super pleased with this wreath and I have to admit, it is one of the prettiest ones that have ever graced my front door! It is absolutely beautiful!!!
