Last weekend we were going to host a little Thomas & Friends party at our home for my son and two of his friends. However, we had to cancel it due to his emergency minor surgery. Yes, my son is fine and finally on the road to healing.

After his surgery we decided to stay at my parent’s house for a few days so they could help me with him. We got out these fun new Thomas & Friends toys to cheer him up and to help distract him from the pain. All of the toys we’re going to talk about today would make GREAT holiday gifts!

The Thomas & Friends Mini Train Pack contains 5 mini trains. In this pack you’ll get Millie, Stanley, Salty, Charlie and Rosie. I love that this pack has a mixture of male and female character trains! The minis come in different collectible sets, so you’ll want to collect them all. They’re made for children ages 3 and up with each train being about 2″ in size.

One of the things that’s nice about the mini sets is that they’re great take-along toys. My son can easily take a few of them in the car with us when running errands, take them over to Nanny’s house, while we’re traveling and so forth. They barely take up any room and they’re really light-weight.

The Thomas & Friends Glow-in-the-Dark Track Pack Train Set is really fun! My Dad set up the set for little Prince and his eyes were as big as saucers watching his Pappy put it together for him. As soon as it was set up, little Prince played with the train set for 3 hours straight. Prince has a lot of Thomas & Friends trains and he can mix-n-match many of his sets together.

This particular set is really a nice size and fun for kids to play with. During the day they can have the engines race around the track in the daylight and at night it really comes alive. The engines have lights on them which enhances the glow features with the tracks. You can make a unique design with the track pieces every time your child plays with it.

If you have a few children in the family this set would be perfect because they can all play with it at the same time. On this particular day my son and his Pappy had 3-4 engines running around the track at the same time. A nice set for the entire family to enjoy.

I was really happy to have these new Thomas & Friends toys on-hand right after my son’s surgery. They helped to distract him from the pain and made the healing process a lot easier to deal with. Over the 3 days that we stayed with my parents, this was the preferred toys that he wanted to play with. Now that we’re home he has the toys set-up in the playroom and goes in there all of the time to play with them. They’re his new favorites for sure!
