Bonus features include a discussion with American Ballet Theatre’s Misty Copeland about her role as the enchanting Ballerina Princess, her personal history with “The “Nutcracker” ballet, and her inspirational and historic rise within the world of dance. Extras take viewers on the set of “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” to meet both new and reimagined characters, and discover how the Land of Sweets, Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and mysterious Fourth Realm were created to such dazzling effect. Deleted scenes provide a look at magical moments that didn’t make the final version of the movie.

In “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” Clara travels along a golden thread, presented at Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual party, eagerly searching for a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a music box that holds a priceless gift. When she enters a mysterious parallel world, Clara encounters a Nutcracker soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and three Realm regents, including the Sugar Plum Fairy (Keira Knightley). Ultimately, she must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve the key and return harmony to the unstable world.

Our Thoughts: Wow, where do I begin with this one! This movie is a lot better than I thought it would be! Its a movie that you can sit down and watch on family movie night (with older children) and one that I think you would all enjoy. The acting is fantastic, the story line is entertaining (from start to finish), the music will have you dancing along and its truly different from other type’s of “nutcracker” movies that are out there. Frankly, its better!

I asked my 9 1/2 year old granddaughter for her thoughts and she told me that it was “magical” and since receiving the DVD for this review shes watched it 3 times from start to finish. Its rated PG and has a lot of different characters that you will fall in love with. The dancing is top notch…so if you love the ballet, you’ll be really impressed with that.

On our movie rating scale we’re giving this one 7 1/2 popcorn buckets out of 10 popcorn buckets. Looking to buy? You can find the movie and DVD at a really great price on Amazon.

GOOSEBUMPS 2 Movie Party Supplies

Yesterday we sat down to watch the new Goosebumps 2 movie with our 9 year old granddaughter and her best friend. Both of the girls are into Goosebumps and have been reading several of the books. They were excited to finally see the new movie.

Movie Synopsis: Be careful what you wish for. With their after school junk business, best friends Sonny and Sam hope to find treasure in other people’s trash. But when cleaning out the old Stine house, they open a locked book that frees a supernatural nightmare- Slappy! Now, with the help of Sonny’s sister Sarah, they’re in a race against time to get the sinister dummy and all the creatures he’s brought to life back into the pages before he unleashes total pandemonium!

Our Thoughts: If you’ve read any of the Goosebumps books or seen any of the movies and enjoyed them…you’ll enjoy this new movie too! It follows along the classic Goosebumps theme of mystery, action, intrigue, engaging characters, etc. The girls were glued to the TV from start to finish and were thoroughly entertained. How do I know that? Well…they didn’t budge from their beanbag chairs the entire time! We won’t be telling you how the movie ends as we don’t give out spoilers.

Holiday Thumbprint Cookies Recipe

To get ready for our movie viewing party we made Holiday Thumbprint Cookies a few days ago and you can grab the recipe HERE. They were really easy-to-make and they tasted great! These cookies utilize using those yummy Haribo Gummy Bears.

After we were done watching the movie the girls decided to make 2 batches of the Goosebumps Gummy Bear Slime and really enjoyed that! Here’s the recipe. Young children will need adult supervision when making it.

Haribo Gummy Bears
1/3 cup powdered 10X sugar
1/3 cup corn starch
microwave oven
microwave oven safe bowls
measuring cups

Place the preferred amount of gummy bears into the microwave-safe bowl. We used about 20 of the little gummy bears per batch of slime that we made. You can use more or less. If you want to make a specific color of slime, I would recommend using gummy bears that are all of that color or within that color family.

Combine corn starch with the powdered sugar into a smaller bowl.

Cook the gummy bears by placing them in the microwave for 10 seconds. If they’re not fully melted, try it again for an additional 10 seconds. For the most part it took us 15-20 seconds to get them fully melted.

Remove your goopy concoction from the microwave and add a spoonful of your powdered sugar and corn starch to the mixture. Stir it all together and add more dry ingredients as needed to create a gooey consistency. We kept adding until it was the consistency that was needed.

Time to play with the slime! Scoop it out of the bowl and start pulling and stretching it. You’ll need to knead it like a big ball of bread dough. The more you pull and stretch on it, the better it becomes. Once you’re done playing with it, you’ll want to store it in a plastic zipper-close bag or an airtight container.

Don’t forget….Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween will be available for digital download starting on Christmas Day! You can pick up the blu-ray and DVD starting on January 15th, 2019. You can pre-order it now!!! This is the perfect movie for family movie night, especially if you have older children in the family.
