Full Solar Eclipse Painted Rocks and Seashell DesignsWe’re going on a road trip in early April to see the Full Solar Eclipse on April 8th, 2024. We will be traveling from south central Pennsylvania up to Lake Erie in the state of New York. We’ll be directly in the path, so we should see the FULL SOLAR ECLIPSE! Several of our family members are going along with us and everyone is excited!

I’m painting 25 kindness rocks and seashells to hide along the way. They will be great souvenirs for those who find them. You don’t have to be a talented artist to make them. Even if you’re not going on a road trip, they’re great for kids to make as a learning tool. Teach them about the Solar System and Solar Eclipses. If you haven’t picked up your Solar Eclipse viewing glasses yet…make sure you do so! You can’t safely look up into the sky without them!

You’ll need some small to medium sized rocks and seashells to make them. I used a combination of 3″ wide clam shells, scallop seashells, razor clam shells and rocks. You can paint the entire thing or just one side…that’s entirely up to you. I used a combination of acrylic craft paint with a paint brush and BETEM Acrylic Paint Pens with dual tips. The paint pens are great for doing all of the design work and wordage.

Design ideas are endless! I hope my photos have sparked some design ideas for you! Once they’re done you do need to seal the design by spraying them with 2 coats of a Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer or use a foam brush and brush-on 2 coats of Clear Mod Podge. I used Glossy Mod Podge on the designs featured in my photographs. I love the shine and I feel it better protects the paint.

Hand Painted Pac Man Game Themed Seashell Designs

Hand Painted Pac Man Game Themed Seashell Designs

Hand Painted Pac Man Game Themed Seashell DesignsWhen I was a teenager Pac Man was the HOTTEST game to play. I admit, I enjoyed playing it too. Even at the age of 55…I still enjoy sitting down to play a few games of Pac Mac. It’s a classic and even my grandchildren love to play it.

This hand painted Pac Man Game themed seashell design is easy to make. It’s great for a beginner, no artistic talent required. You’ll need a combination of acrylic craft paints and a brush along with acrylic paint pen markers to make it. The design can be painted onto a clam shell or a smooth rock. Hey, rock painting is popular too!

I opted to use a 4″ wide clam shell that I collected from the beach. Washed the seashell in warm, soapy water using Dawn Liquid Dish Soap. It’s the best for removing sand, debris and fishy odors. Rinse with clean water and air dry.

Using a paint brush and black acrylic craft paint…give the clam shell 2 base coats of paint. Allow for 30-40 minutes of drying time between coats. The paint needs to be completely dry before moving onto the next steps.

To keep it simple and easy…use Acrylic Paint Pen Markers to make the design. I started with the green game lines and then added the yellow mini dots. You know…the path that Pac Man travels. Use the photograph for referrence. I then added the red and blue monsters at the bottom with Pac Man sitting above them to the right. The decorating of the seashell took me less than 10 minutes to do thanks to using the Acrylic Paint Pen Markers. Let it dry for a few hours to allow the paint to cure.

Finishing up – I used a foam brush and brushed on 2 coats of clear Mod Podge Sealer with a Glossy Finish, allowing for 30 minutes of drying time between the 2 coats. This will protect the painted finish and give the seashell a nice glossy shine!
