Mercy Snow by Author Tiffany Baker Book Review

One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2014 is to set aside time for more reading. When I was a teenager and young adult I used to read a lot. The past few years I have had difficulty in finding free time to read but

Just One Night by Kara Davis

I have found myself enjoying series of books more and more even though I hate to wait to find out what happens. That is the worst part by far! But today I want to share with you a book I received for review that originally started as a 3 part novella and was then published as a stand alone book. More and more books are being picked up published by independent authors and I am thrilled to read all of the new talent.

Synopsis:
Kasie Fitzgerald knows who she’s supposed to be. Responsible. Reliable. Predictable. She’s an ambitious workaholic who is devoted to the sensible man she plans to marry. But one wild, impulsive night in Vegas is about to open her eyes to who she wants to be .

Trying her sexy new dress and her luck at a blackjack table, Kasie meets him. Intense. Flirtatious. Dangerous. She accepts his invitation for a drink . . . and then to his hotel room. She doesn’t know his name. But she’ll never forget the night.

So when her mystery man later shows up at her office unexpectedly, she succumbs to him, both in bed and in the boardroom. There’s no telling where the powerful, wealthy Robert Dade will lead her. But there’s also no resisting her desire – however far she’ll go under its spell. The only question is who she’ll be when the journey ends.

My Thoughts: The first thing I thought when I finished this book was just how powerful this story was. You take a hardworking woman who had been going up the ladder in business who takes a risk on a dare from her girlfriend and then you watch the changes unfold. I think we have all had instances when we changed who we were depending on who we hung out with. This story is about a man that is a master of manipulation to someone he truly cares about. He thinks he is doing the right thing and is making Kasie a stronger women in every aspect.

I have to say this was the most amazing book I think I have ever read. Full of powerful emotion, insight and intense feelings. I am in awe of this writers talent to go deep into the psyche of her characters. I do not know how to explain how much I loved this writers style. This is a highly passionate story that is full of hot steamy romance and very intense mental imagery. If you have read 50 Shades of Grey or the Bared to You books, this goes way beyond that with the in depth emotional sides of Kasie and her relationships – both professional and personal. And what a mess they can be.

Simply put, I loved this book and could not put it down. I know that anything I write here to try and describe this book will not do it justice. Kara Davis is a fantastic writer and I know that I will be reading many more of her books in the future. If you enjoys books of this nature, you should grab this one for sure.

We have been featuring the books from author Alice Clayton on the blog over the past year. I hope you have been enjoying the reviews and even reading a book or two. I want to take a moment and share with you some of the

How to Run with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper

If there is one type of book or movie that I am not a big fan of it is paranormal. I prefer to live in the present, I guess. So when I was sent a book about a girl and a werewolf to review, I

Jeeves and the Wedding Bells by Sebastian Faulks Audio Book

I have always been a fab of British humor. I have a pretty dry sense of humor myself and enjoy watching British shows and movies but I have not had the pleasure of reading many books. I was sent an audio book for review set in England and I was looking forward to listening to it.

Synopsis: Bertie Wooster (a young man about town) and his butler Jeeves (the very model of the modern manservant)—return in their first new novel in nearly forty years: Jeeves and the Wedding Bells by Sebastian Faulks.

P.G. Wodehouse documented the lives of the inimitable Jeeves and Wooster for nearly sixty years, from their first appearance in 1915 (“Extricating Young Gussie”) to his final completed novel (Aunts Aren’t Gentlemen) in 1974. These two were the finest creations of a novelist widely proclaimed to be the finest comic English writer by critics and fans alike.

Now, forty years later, Bertie and Jeeves return in a hilarious affair of mix-ups and mishaps. With the approval of the Wodehouse estate, acclaimed novelist Sebastian Faulks brings these two back to life for their legion of fans.

Bertie, nursing a bit of heartbreak over the recent engagement of one Georgina Meadowes to someone not named Wooster, agrees to “help” his old friend Peregrine “Woody” Beeching, whose own romance is foundering. That this means an outing to Dorset, away from an impending visit from Aunt Agatha, is merely an extra benefit. Almost immediately, things go awry and the simple plan quickly becomes complicated. Jeeves ends up impersonating one Lord Etringham, while Bertie pretends to be Jeeves’ manservant “Wilberforce,”— and this all happens under the same roof as the now affianced Ms. Meadowes. From there the plot becomes even more hilarious and convoluted, in a brilliantly conceived, seamlessly written comic work worthy of the master himself.

My Thoughts: I have not read any of the books by P.G. Wodehouse and apparently from what I learned, that is unfortunate. From everything I read about the series this book is modeled after, they are quite the read. So I went into this book without any prior knowledge of the characters and I am not sure if that is good or bad.

The story is read by a very talented guy with just the right voices to carry you through the story. The story itself grabs you from the beginning. There is no long drawn out wind up to this book. It starts with a bang and continues right through the whole book. I enjoyed listening to all of the crazy antics between Jeeves and Bertie. It is very fast paced and sometimes I had to listen to what was being said twice so I could follow the story. No multitasking with this book on!

The author has a great sense of humor and certainly knows how to write in that manner as well. Humor is tough to get across on paper sometimes, but this book is loaded with quirky British laughs that makes this story a winner. I enjoyed it greatly and it is just the right choice for a boring weekend when you need some amusement, especially if you are a fan of dry humor. Be prepared to be transported to another world, even for a short time!

Sometimes you pick up a book with certain expectations on what you will find within the covers. You read the back cover and the synopsis to form a snapshot of what is inside. But then, as you read the book, it becomes so much more
