As an educator, librarian, step-mom to an eight year old boy and aunt to a four year old boy, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review Captain Perseverance. Many times throughout the year I have to watch as my son struggles with many activities—math, spelling, landing a move in gymnastics— and I witness the frustrations and cries when it’s just not clicking. Enter Captain Perseverance: How I Became a Superhero. This book allows the reader to understand their feelings, and allows them to identify with the character in the book. This book shows that everyone goes through struggles in their life, but if you persevere and not give up on your dreams, you can overcome any obstacle in your way.
I also really love the illustrations. Each page shows a different theme depending on what subject the character is discussing. My favorite page is in regards to the science fair. If you look at the judges, you’ll notice they resemble three of our great scientists: Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla and Sir Isaac Newton.
Overall, this is a great book for all. I love the storyline and illustrations and I firmly believe that this book is a must have. So if you have a little one or a bunch of little ones (educators), then this is the perfect book for you. You can find this book for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and iBooks. So invest today…you won’t be disappointed.

Derek and I love wings, and we love to try the many different flavors that are offered. So when I had the opportunity to try out Nando’s PERi-PERi sauces, I jumped right on board. These sauces arrived quickly on my door step in a fun, printed cardboard box (shown above). And when I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised that I received four out of their five sauces.
As soon as they arrived, I couldn’t wait to try them out, so that following Monday Derek and I went to Giant to buy three dozen wings. That evening Derek cooked two dozen wings on the grill…the perfect amount to try all four flavors. Right off the bat we tried the medium. If you are sensitive to hot or spicy sauces, then the only flavor for you would be mild, because the Medium was spicy…but it was the perfect amount of heat and spice, and I ended up eating half of my wings with the medium sauce. The other half you ask? Well I saved those for the garlic, which is by far my favorite. It definitely has a medium heat, but the garlic gives it that extra flavor, so the heat doesn’t overpower the food.
Derek enjoyed the medium, but didn’t touch the garlic (he’s not crazy about garlic). He did however use the hot sauce and the extra hot sauce. Behind the hotness part of the sauce you can taste a distinct lemon and garlic flavor which gives it a unique taste to other hot sauces on the market. This makes it perfect for the collection of hot sauces that he likes to cook with. For those who absolutely demand the hottest sauce possible, you should go for the extra hot. For those who like a punch, but still able to taste their food, than nothing above the hot flavor is most likely for you.
These delicious hot sauces are available online. A pack of two is available for $7.98. They are also available in your local grocery store (check out Giant or Walmart). Overall, Derek and I both really enjoyed these sauces and will use them again in the future when making wings or chicken of any kind. So if you are looking for a new tasty sauce to try, then we recommend PERi-PERi sauces.
