These hand painted Halloween themed seashells are easy-to-make! You only need a few arts and craft supplies to make them. You don’t need to be a professional artist or crafter, no pattern needed! These are great designs for beginners and older children to do. If you don’t have access to clam shells you can use smooth river rocks or stones.

Once they’ve been completed you can hand them out to trick or treaters, use as Halloween party favors or as little home decor accents. They’re fun to make! You can check out all of our painted seashell and painted rock designs while you’re here.
You’ll need some acrylic craft paint, paint brushes, water dish, paper towels, Mod Podge Clear Sealer, a pencil and a pack of BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers. I like to buy my art supplies from Amazon and have them shipped straight to my home.
Wash all clam shells in warm soapy water. I like to use Dawn Liquid Dishwasing Soap. It does a great job at removing sand, debris and fishy odors. Rinse with clean water. Lay them out to air dry overnight. You don’t need to use harsh chemicals like bleach to clean them!
Base coat each shell with a coat of white acrylic craft paint. Base coating them white will help all of the colors applied on top to be more vivid. Let dry.
Use a pencil to sketch on the design. I did it freehanded. They don’t need to look perfect! Use a pack of BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers to color-in the designs. These markers have dual-ended tips. Use the medium tip for the larger areas and the fine tip for the smaller ones. The fine tip is great for facial features and adding wordage. The markers don’t require any priming and have no foul paint odors. Plus, they dry fairly quickly!
Once you have all of the design work completed you need to seal the paint. I like to brush-on 1-2 light coats of Clear Mod Podge Sealer. It goes on white but dries crystal clear. Let them dry overnight.
