9 Delicious Easy-to-Make Recipes that Use Potatoes

February 16, 2026 by Classystaff

Our local farmer’s market sells potatoes in a 50 lb. bulk size bag for $8.00 to $10.00 per bag. This is a much cheaper price than our local grocery store, so I do buy them in bulk. With that said, it’s just the 2 of us in our household…so potatoes are on our menu several times a week. We love them and frankly…they’re good for us!

Here are 9 delicious easy-to-make recipes that use white potatoes.

1. French Fries – We make and eat a lot of French Fries. We use a French Fry Cutter Tool that I purchased from Amazon to get them cut quickly. You can check out my previous post on how to make and freeze your own French Fries. When it comes to making them…get creative with your seasonings! Try using Old Bay, Paprika, Italian Seasoning Blends, etc. to give them some unique flavoring.

2. Creamy Cauliflower and Potato Soup – I took the Goya recipe 7 years ago and altered it to my family’s liking. I have both version of the recipe on the TCC blog. Check out the Creamy Cauliflower and Potato Soup recipe that utilizes coconut milk, cauliflower, potatoes and cannellini beans. It’s delicious!

3. Potato and Bacon Soup – This is one of the easiest homemade soups that you can make. The bacon and shredded cheese turn this ordinary soup into something extraordinary! Potato and Bacon Soup is a great tummy filler on a cold winter’s day.

4. Ham, Green Beans and Potato Soup – This is a classic homemade soup that has been around for decades! In the northeast, it’s popular and eaten often, especially during the cold winter months. It’s a great way to use up leftover ham from the holidays, along with green beans and potatoes! Ham, Green Beans and Potato Soup is one of my family’s favorites, especially when I use Goya Ham Base in the recipe.

5. Potato Salad – Looking for a little twist on the traditional potato salad? If so, check out Grandpa Davila’s Potato Salad recipe  which is perfect for your next family picnic or backyard barbecue. Around here…folks like to take a big container along with them when tailgating too!

6. Grandma’s Classic Potato Salad – If you’re looking for just the Classic Potato Salad to take to your potlucks, picnics, camping, backyard barbecues, etc. this recipe would be it! It does take a little bit of extra time to make it…but it’s delicious and one of our go-to potato salad recipes.

7. Loaded Baked Potato Skins – During the football season my family enjoys snacking on Loaded Baked Potato Skins. There are a ton of recipes out there on how to make them. This recipe is a twist on the classic which I think you’ll really enjoy.

8. Cheesy Bacon Topped Potato Rounds – These Cheesy, Bacon Topped Potato Rounds are a HUGE hit with the kids in our family. Think…cheesy bacon topped fries but instead of fries…you’re using sliced potato rounds! We like to use a mixture of different shredded cheeses….but you can use whatever type of cheese you prefer or have on hand. They’re delicious!!!

9. Marinated Potatoes Recipe – This was a guest post recipe on our blog from a cookbook author. Marinated Potatoes were a favorite side dish in his family. He recalls his mom making it for his dad starting around 1945. Wow, that’s what you call a tried and true family recipe!

If you have an abundance of potatoes on hand you can certainly home can them using a pressure steam canner. I have detailed canning instructions on the blog along with some of my personal canning tips.

Storing Potatoes – You want to store your potatoes in a cool, dry and dark place. If stored correctly, they should last several weeks up to a few months!
