I enjoy painting seashells and smooth river rocks as part of a Kindness Project – Paying it Forward group in our local area. We paint shells and rocks with colorful designs and leave them for others to find. You can leave them just about anywhere when you’re out running errands or doing your day-to-day activities. It’s a really fun craft project to get involved in. You can learn more about Painted Shells and Rocks Kindness Projects by checking out my previous post HERE.

Over the years I’ve tried several different brands of acrylic paint markers and keep several brands in my collection. Using paint markers have many advantages:
* No bottles, paint brushes, etc. to deal with
* Less Mess
* Paint Dries Quicker
* Saves on Storage Space
* Portable
One of my favorite brands to use is POSCA Paint Markers. With that said, they’re NOT cheap! They come in a wide variety of different colors, different sized packs and with different sized tips. The tips (nibs) are double-sided and washable. They’re easy to work with and can be used on most arts and craft surfaces:
wood
metal
glass
rocks
tiles
seashells
ceramic
fabric (some fabrics)
art canvas
etc.
When I’m doing an elaborate project where I want bright and vivid colors…I like to use the POSCA Paint Markers. They give me the professional look that I’m trying to achieve. When I’m doing just doing basic arts & craft projects with the kids then I like to use a cheaper brand called BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages. I use both and keep both in my collection. You can read my review on the BETEM Paint Markers — HERE.
You can purchase the POSCA Paint Markers from various arts & craft stores across America. I like to purchase them from Amazon because I find that the prices are typically cheaper and they carry a larger selection than the local craft store. BETEM Paint Markers I also purchase from Amazon because I’ve never seen them offered in stores. BETEM is about 1/3 of the cost of POSCA…so keep that in mind.
