Dad’s Old Fashioned Root Beer Drink Mix

One of my favorite beverages is Dad’s Old Fashioned Root Beer. It’s flavorful and refreshing especially on a hot summer day. As an added bonus it’s perfect for making your own homemade Root Beer floats or Popsicles too. While there are other brands available,  Dad’s Old Fashioned Root Beer has always been my favorite.

Throughout the year I do a lot of traveling and finding my favorite brand can be difficult,  so imagine my excitement when I found packages of Dad’s Old Fashioned Root Beer Drink Mix sitting on the shelf at a local store. I tossed 6 packages in my shopping basket and headed home to give it a try.

According to the package it’s a zero sugar drink mix in singles to go drink packs. It’s artificially flavored,  non-carbonated, caffeine free, and low calorie. Each package contains six single to go packets. Serving size is one packet for 10 calories.  Here’s how to use it.

Open a bottle of water and take 1-2 sips. Open the packet and dump it into the water bottle.  Place the cap back on and shake until the powder dissolves. Then drink. You can also pour it into a 16 oz. glass of water, stir to mix it up and then drink. I’ve found both ways to be equally delicious.

To make homemade Root Beer ice pops simply mix the packs with the required amount of water. Stir until the powder has dissolved. Pour into a plastic ice pops popsicle mold and freeze for 3-5 hours. The perfect afternoon summertime snack!

Now that I’ve tried them, I can take Dad’s Old Fashioned Root Beer with me when I’m on the go! Perfect for traveling,  camping,  hiking, picnicking,  etc. Heck…I tossed 2 packs in our home emergency kit so that I’m covered there too.
