Top 10 Cat Toxins You Need to Know

July 7, 2023 by Sam H.

Top 10 Cat Toxins You Need to KnowWe love cats and have had at least one in our home since 1989. Being a cat owner means that you have the responsibility to take care of your furry friend to the best of your ability. That means feeding them, keeping a clean home for them to live in, regular checkups and vaccinations with a veterinarian, and showering them with a lot of love. A pet parent is a very rewarding job!

As a pet parent it’s your job to protect them from things that could hurt them. According to the Pet Poison Helpline these are the Top 10 Cat Toxins you need to be aware of.

1. Lilies
2. Spot-on Flea and Tick Dog Medications
3. Household Cleaners
4. Anti-depressants
5. Essential oils
6. Anti-inflammatory medications
7. Mouse and rat poisons
8. Stimulant medications
9. Onions and garlic
10. Vitamin D overdose

You can check out the Pet Poison Helpline via their website or call them at 1-855-886-7965. Please be advised that if you call them there is a per incident fee.

I did not know about all of these toxins for cats. I shall ask my daughter-in-law to see if she knows all of them.

Always good to be aware and be observant. Even though my cats are older, I have one that will still get into things and eat plants.
