Cats Love Cardboard Boxes

Cats Love Cardboard BoxesIf you have a cat or a few of them…I’m sure you already know that they love napping in cardboard boxes, drawers and baskets. Our Romeo loves them all. They’re a safe place for him to catch a good nap. They like confined spaces which help them to feel safe.

We use cardboard boxes in 3 rooms of our home just for Romeo. He’ll use one for a week or two and then moves on to the next one. Once he feels that his “scent” is strong in one box…he looks for a new one. Out in nature they’re always moving around from one place to another to stay safe. Toss out the old box and bring in the new!

My boy is spoiled so I like to use baby blankets inside some of the boxes. I pick up the baby blankets at our local Dollar Tree store from the baby section. You can get fun prints and colors. After I toss the box I take the time to launder the baby blanket to keep it fresh and clean. Then fold it up and place it inside a new box. He thinks it’s a brand new safe space.

The boxes also make great scratching posts for their claws. Plus, when strangers come to visit he knows that one of his boxes is his SAFE SPACE and will go hide. When he’s ready…he’ll then come out and make nice with our guests. It’s all about him doing it his way when he’s ready!

Its funny I just watched a video on facebook about a cat and his box. He clawed this box almost to pieces but he would not get into a new box. She had ever size and shapes of boxs the cat would not use them. Where ever she moved the box the cat would go there to sleep were ever. . She finally gave up and just put it in the living room.

He is a beautiful cat. Mine love boxes too and they love packing paper. I hide some of their toys under the paper and they have fun with that.
