7 Fun Footwear Facts for Shoe LoversAre you a shoe lover? I am! I guess you could call me a collector of shoes. I have over 50+ pairs of shoes in my closet! I love shoes and they’re my favorite thing when it comes to fashion. I’ve got flip-flops, clogs, stilletos, loafers, shooties, booties, boots, sandals, slippers, and everything in between. I just love them! I learned quite a few new things reading through these 7 Fun Footwear Facts for Shoe Lovers.

Fact 1 – If you asked millions of women who wore high heel shoes first, men or women…the majority would answer women. Well, that’s incorrect. Men were the first to wear high heels.

Fact 2 – When shoes were first manufactured, there was no left or right shoe. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was the first location where manufacturers started making left and right-sided shoes.

Fact 3 – Boots first came in style back in 1840 when Queen Victoria squeezed her feet into the first pair. From that time forward…women have been drawn to wearing boots.

Fact 4 – Genuine Clogs are made entirely or partially from wood.

Fact 5 – The first sneaker was manufactured in America in 1916 and has been a popular, casual shoe style ever since. Most Americans own several pairs.

Fact 6 – The oldest surviving pair of clogs were found in Amsterdam & Rotterdam in the Netherlands and dates from 1230 to 1280.

Fact 7 – Oxfords first made their appearance in North America in the early 1800’s and were first worn by men and then became popular with women too.

As a show lover I have to admit…I do wear mine and I wear them often. I don’t collect them to just sit around and collect dust. One of the great things is that my 14 year old daughter has now grown into my shoes, so we’re constantly sharing them between ourselves.
