Star Wars is one of the most popular movie franchises in the world. My husband Sam has been a huge Star Wars fan since the early 1980’s and has collected 1,000s of items over the years. He owns figures, clothing, R2D2 full-size hamper, toys, games, puzzles, model kits, beach towels, bedding, home decor, watches, etc. One of these days he’ll be passing down his massive collection to his grandson who is also a fan.

A few months ago we hosted an elaborate 60th Birthday Party for Sam and both of his birthday cakes were done in a Star Wars theme. Both were speciality made. Sorry, I’m not a great cake decorator!
The Star Wars Sheet Cake was half white cake and half chocolate cake. It had vanilla frosting on the top and sides. The Baby Yoda was a keepsake figure (he gave it to his grandson at the party and of course was non-edible). Everything else was edible. It was the more affordable option out of the two birthday cakes.
If you’re looking for an elaborate layer cake design check out the second one in our photo. It was a triple-layer cake with 2 layers being chocolate and 1 layer being vanilla. The entire cake was frosted in a black frosting. The top of the cake reads as follows “60 years ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Samuel was born…. The 2 Star Wars figures on the top are not edible nor are the 60 birthday candles. The 2 light sabers on the side were edible and were made with fondant. This one was a lot more expensive than the first one.
Star Wars themed birthday cakes and parties are popular especially with the men and the boys. If you’re looking for some Star Wars Birthday Cake Ideas … these are two that I would recommend. Both were a big hit at the party!!!

This would be a hit at my house too for both kids and adults. The black frosting is a neat idea and I love the in a galaxy far away saying on the top.
This looks like an amazing birthday party. These cakes are so cool, I really love the one with Chewbacca on top too cool Happy Birthday to Sam!
Your husband must have been so happy with both of his cakes. I love the more elaborate chocolate one with the fondant light sabers.
