1. Kona Coffee Beans – Hawaii

Kona coffee is considered the best coffee in America. Grown on the volcanic soil of the Kona Island of Hawaii, this single-origin coffee has a sweet herbal taste with nutty overtones.

This coffee is more on the expensive side as it is grown in small quantities and made in the U.S. where farmers are paid a higher wage than other coffee-growing countries.

2. AA Coffee Beans – Kenya

Kenyan coffee is known for being some of the best in the world. In Kenya, coffee farmers are rewarded for better quality coffee so the time and effort they put into their beans are clear to taste.

AA refers to the size of the coffee beans – the largest coffee bean size. This single-origin coffee has sweet fruity notes, a pleasant acidity, and a syrupy body. It smells fresh and floral and is best brewed as a drip coffee.

3. Dark Roast Sumatra Beans – Indonesia

Sumatra coffee comes from the Sumatra region of Indonesia. Sumatra coffees have low acidity and a smooth body. Dark roast Sumatra coffee specifically has enhanced sweetness and an earthy flavor.

4. Blue Mountain Coffee Beans – Jamaica

The Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is one of the most sought after in the world. It is grown at a very high elevation, making it extremely hard to harvest. It is grown in limited quantities, making it one of the rarest and most expensive coffees in the world.

If you do get the chance to try this rare single-origin coffee, it will have sweet herbal flavors with little bitterness and full acidity.

5. Yirgacheffe Beans – Ethiopia

Ethiopia is actually considered the birthplace of coffee, and the Yirgacheffee beans its most valued coffee bean. But truly any coffee from Ethiopia is sure to satisfy your taste buds.

Yirgacheffee coffee is light in body, earthy, with cinnamon and strawberry undertones.

How to Use and Store Your Coffee Beans

Now that you know what coffee beans to use let’s talk about how to use and store them.

The best way to store your coffee beans is in a vacuum-sealed container to preserve its freshness. A mason jar will work just fine for this!

    I’d love to try Kona coffee with Kona coffee beans from Hawaii. It sounds so good. I like trying coffees new to use, this is overdue!

    I have had the Kona coffee when vacationing in Hawaii. Truly makes a delicious cup of coffee. I also like the Sumatra for its smoothness. Good tip on storing beans in a mason jar.
