SeaSnax SeaVegi Seaweed Salad Mix and Raw Seaweed Sheets for a New Taste Experience

SeaSnax Gourmet SnacksNot long ago, SeaSnax sent me a big sampler of their seaweed snack and food products. Previously, I’ve reviewed their Roasted Snack Sheets and Grab & Go Packs (wafer-thin sheets of seaweed roasted with extra virgin olive oil and flavorings to eat as snacks or use in recipes) and SeaSnax Chomperz Crunchy Seaweed Chips (thin curls of seaweed wrapped in a crust made from rice flour and seasonings). Today I’m completing my triad of reviews with SeaSnax SeaVegi Seaweed Salad Mix and SeaSnax Raw Seaweed Sheets.

SeaSnax Raw Seaweed Sheets and SeaVegi Salad Mix

Whereas the Roasted Snack Sheets, Grab & Go Packs, and Chomperz are primarily intended to be eaten as snacks, the Raw Seaweed Sheets and SeaVegi Salad Mix are aimed at mealtimes. Like other SeaSnax products, they are made from Korean seaweed. They are gluten free, completely vegan, Non-GMO Project Certified, and Certified Paleo-Friendly.

The SeaVegi Seaweed Salad Mix was the most interesting to me. It comes dehydrated, and preparing it simply involves soaking it in cold water for seven minutes to rehydrate it, then draining it. The 0.9-ounce package contains five servings. Having lived for many years on the shores of a bay where I often watched commercial lobster and mussel fishermen from my window, I can tell you that the rehydrated SeaVegi salad smells just like the sea. The flavor is strong and may be an acquired taste if you’re not used to very fresh sea products. SeaSnax recommends adding thinly sliced apples, onions, or other fruits or veggies to round out your salad. The recipe for salad dressing included on the SeaVegi package is a mix of Asian ingredients that would be nice on a standard green salad, too.

The SeaSnax SeaVegi Seaweed Salad Mix

Like the SeaVegi Seaweed Salad, the SeaSnax Raw Seaweed Sheets have a strong seaweed flavor, as you might expect. The thin sheets are slightly smaller than a sheet of paper, and they can be cut, broken, or crumbled as needed for your recipe. SeaSnax suggests using them as part of a California roll or in a sandwich, soup, or salad, or even just eating them as-is, straight from the package.

Trying all of the different SeaSnax products has been quite an adventure for me! SeaSnax has introduced me to a new world of flavors and textures that I might not otherwise have gotten to experience. If you’re open to the adventure, look for SeaSnax products at Amazon, or order your favorites directly from the company at their website. You can check for a local retailer at the “where to buy” section of the SeaSnax website and connect with the company on Facebook.
