The Knitter’s Dictionary is more than just a glossary—much more. Instead, it’s like having an experienced knitter by your side whenever you have a knitting-related question. Sure, some of the entries are simple definitions, but many more include descriptions, diagrams, instructions, and/or illustrations, all designed to help the reader truly understand knitting patterns.

The Knitter’s Dictionary: Knitting Know-How from A to Z

Like any standard dictionary, The Knitter’s Dictionary is organized alphabetically in an A-to-Z format, making it a cinch to find exactly what you’re looking for. There are lots of cross-references, so you might have to flip around a bit, but this avoids repetition and keeps it concise. The book itself is perfectly sized to fit nicely into a knitting bag or basket, ready to be pulled out any time a question arises.

In the interest of full disclosure, I must tell you that I am not a knitter. Well, I am a beginner; I have yarn, needles, a beginner’s how-to book, and a desire to learn. Having The Knitter’s Dictionary to refer to has already helped me understand some of the basics. I may never knit an Irish-style sweater, but at least now I’m equipped to figure out patterns, so there’s hope for me yet.

This looks like a wonderful book for beginning and intermediate knitters to use. I have never been much of a knitter, although I have crocheted.

  2. I have all the knitting materials too! But I haven’t started learning how to knit. I work a part time job so I’m hoping once I can quit I can pick up learning.
