My Thoughts: When I was around the age of 10 my mom taught me how to do some basic hand sewing. At the time I was interested in learning how to make fashion accessories and clothing for my dolls. My mom would show me a few things and I would try to replicate what she showed me. Oh…how I wish I would of had an instructional book like this one to refer to!

My First Book of Sewing: Learn How to Sew by Hand and Machine

My 9 1/2 year old daughter has taken an interest in sewing and this book has been a great refresher course for me and a brand new instructional course for her. We’ve both been referring to the book, so it’s great for adults and for older children to use.

The book will teach you how to choose patterns, how to cut the fabric, how to assemble your pieces and how to operate a sewing machine. You’ll learn how to hem, attach your buttons and so much more! Plus, there are 20 fun projects to get you started contained within the book including: appliques, pennants, cushion covers, tote bags, a fox pillow and other designs. What a wonderful book!
