Dinosaur: A Photicular Book by Dan Kainen and Kathy Wollard

Kids and adults have been intrigued by dinosaurs for centuries. While no human has ever come in contact with a live dinosaur, the world remains fascinated by these creatures that once roamed the earth. People examine proof of their existence in museums, research them in books, and watch them on the big screen in blockbuster movies.

Dinosaur: A Photicular Book by Dan Kainen and Kathy Wollard

Dinosaur: A Photicular Book by Dan Kainen and Kathy Wollard is a celebration of everyone’s favorite prehistoric beasts. This bestselling series with over two million copies in print uses lifelike animation to bring readers on an expedition a hundred million years back in time.

With images sourced from the Discovery Channel and using Dan Kainen’s masterful Photicular technology, Dinosaur will take readers on a journey back in time almost 70 million years ago. On the expedition, they will encounter lifelike animations of a roaring T. Rex, a velociraptor flapping its feathered arms, a pair of triceratops locked in battle, and more!

Each of these jaw-dropping images is paired with an informative profile by science writer Kathy Wollard. Readers will learn:

* The first sauroposeidon fossils were discovered in 1994 by dog trainer Bobby Cross, while walking his dogs across a stretch of farmland.

* A full-grown eoraptor was the size of a slender, medium sized dog.

* Parasaurolophus had about 300 teeth that were composed of six different materials.

* ISBN: 978-1-5235-0472-5

My Thoughts: I have a 3 year old son and a 9 year old daughter, and both of my children are fascinated by dinosaurs. My son has dinosaur toys, books, games and watches them on children’s TV shows. Like most little boys, he loves dinos!

Dinosaur: A Photicular Book by Dan Kainen and Kathy Wollard

We received the Dinosaur: A Phototicular Book and sat down last week to look through it during our family reading time. Both of my children were highly attentive as I read through the book and gave them information about each dinosaur we were looking at.

As you flip through the pages you’ll see eight awesome dinosaurs in living motion. It gives you the feeling that you’re seeing them in “real life” and watching them roam the earth once again. It is really cool. It’s a hardcover book and would be perfect as a coffee table book, a book to add to your child’s personal library and I highly recommend that it be used in the classroom at school. Yes, it’s that great of a book!

The holidays are coming and I think this book would make a great Christmas gift for anyone on your holiday gift-giving list who wants to learn more about dinosaurs. It would make a great gift for birthdays too!
