This whimsical, rhyming pirate adventure tells a funny story of LaPlank perfectly captaining his ship as his new crew watches, until one by one they begin making minor mistakes and are shown the plank! Trusting no one to do a finer job than himself, “He did all the cooking, cleaning, and steering in a fearsome display of extreme buccaneering, His new problem was jobs, He had rather too many. But then where was the fun? He was not having any.” Captain LaPlank: The Perfect Pirate delivers a powerful message around imperfection, leadership, and learning to live with mistakes.

Captain LaPlank The Perfect Pirate Children's Book

Available September 19, 2018, through Amazon, this story could not have come at a more perfect time (no pun attended). In today’s society, we are pushed to be perfect in everything we do. We are taken over with images in the media of perfect families and extreme athletic, educational, and financial success. It puts a lot of stress and pressure on children and adults. But we need to learn from Captain LaPlank: The Perfect Pirate…it’s okay to make mistakes…mistakes help to guide us in the right direction and shapes who we are today.

To all my parents, teachers and librarians…I highly recommend you adding this book to your collection. Children of all ages will thoroughly enjoy this book. The rhyming story is fun to hear, and the colorful pictures come alive on the page…It’s sure to keep your child engaged. It’s also the perfect story to create a lesson plan around. • That even Captain LaPlank can learn to live with mistakes
• Understanding that no one is perfect…everyone makes mistakes

Captain LaPlank The Perfect Pirate Children's Book

As a step-parent, this book has helped me to understand that my child will make mistakes. It’s taught me not to be so hard on the mistakes that my son makes, and trust that he will learn to do good from his mistakes. It’s helped me to understand that I make mistakes, so I shouldn’t expect my child or my husband to be perfect. I’m really glad that I read this book.

It’s also a really funny story that your child will love to read. It’s silly that the captain makes each of his crew walk the plank until there is no crew left and he’s stuck doing ALL the work. The rhyming and wonderful illustrations helped to bring the story alive too. Overall, it’s just a super enjoyable story.

So with Christmas right around the corner, why not gift your child, library or classroom with a copy of Captain LaPlank: The Perfect Pirate? You won’t be disappointed.
