River Otters at ZooAmerica in Hershey, Pennsylvania

River Otters at ZooAmerica in Hershey, PennsylvaniaWow, it’s time again for another “Almost” Wordless Wednesday post! It seems like we have one every few days but in actuality, it is once a week.

Today’s photo is one that I took at Hershey’s ZooAmerica a few months ago. My husband loves River Otters and when we go to the Hershey Zoo, he always makes a point to stop by their exhibit to see them.

On this particular day we had beautiful weather here in Pennsylvania and the River Otters were out playing in the sunshine and having a lot of fun. They attracted quite a large crowd that day as they were playing in & out of their little man-made pool (pond).

While River Otters are super cute to look at…they are pretty smelly once you get up close & personal with them. Standing at the edge of the exhibit, we could “smell” them pretty good so hubby was quite pleased to see them finally grooming one another. Ahhh…to be in love! LOL

If you have never been to ZooAmerica it is located in downtown Hershey PA. It is a small sized family zoo and we go several times every year. We love it because it is small and has a lot of charm. It is open year round too!

  1. Sweet! It looks like they have a nice enclosure, too–a very natural setting. I can see why you enjoy going there.

  2. So cute! I think it always funny and neat to see animals interacting with each other! We love going to our local Cincinnati Zoo!

The otters do look beautiful. I didn’t know that they were smelly up close, but I love to go to the zoo and see all the animals.

  7. They are beautiful animals but like all in the weasel family, they do kinda stink I suppose. We dont have them here in Iowa unless they are in the Mississippi, We do have muskrats , weasels and beavers and they all have a muskiness that is unmistakable!

  8. Haven’t ever been there, hope to get to PA someday. Thanks for the picture.

I agree. Otters are so cute, but I’ve heard that they can be really territorial. Supposedly, they can be mean little devils, lol.

  10. What a lovely couple so sweet thanks for sharing made me smile today.
