The Unidentified Redhead by Alice Clayton

Have you ever read a book and you just connect with immediately? Maybe it is the characters or they way the author can grab hold of you and suck you right into the story? I just love it when that happens. I was sent a new book by an author we have featured here before and I was excited to read it and share it with you today. This is the first book in a series of three.

Synopsis:
Grace Sheridan is back. Ten years after discovering that looks and talent are a dime a dozen in Los Angeles, she’s wriggling into a pair of tight jeans and ready to show the film industry that there’s way more to her than just a head of gorgeous red curls. Hollywood’s newest Brit, super-hunk Jack Hamilton, certainly sees a lot to like too. Grace is trying to restrain herself from jumping a man who is nearly a decade her junior, but Jack is making it clear that he personally has zero problems with that idea.

While Grace and Jack are still swapping innuendo-loaded quips and texts, the paparazzi have caught up with them, headlining the “unidentified redhead” who’s been photographed trysting at a restaurant with the heartthrob of the year. Now Grace is in stuck in a double bind. She’s head over heels in lust with Jack, but there’s her own career to think of as well. A sizzling romance with the newest “it” boy may garner her industry attention . . . but is it the kind of attention she’s always dreamed of?

My Thoughts:
By now, you know how much I enjoy a good romance especially in the contemporary adult romance genre. This book fits right into that niche. I love to read light hearted, fun books and this author is wonderful at creating that feeling. For me, reading is a pleasure and I enjoy reading books that do not make me have to think too much or I struggle to get through. I love to feel lost in the story as that is my break from my otherwise crazy world!

The author has created a fun loving couple that reads a bit on the cougar attraction. Having a big age difference for some does not matter and honestly, Grace certainly does not act her age. I love her funny sense of humor and the fact that she is of an age where she knows what she wants and is not embarrassed by it. It is refreshing! She has been down and now it is time for her comeback to the world.

Jack is a typical heartthrob and the instant connection to Grace is sweet. He is always a gentleman and treats her right. That is refreshing to read. I enjoyed how the author made them interact and have fun over tons of drama. I am so over drama!

There are plenty of laugh out loud spots in this book and it is not full of over the top angst. In fact, there is not that much in here at all, which does not bother me in the least! It is a romantic story with plenty of spice that does have a sequel or two so you only get the introduction to their relationship in this book.

While this book is lighthearted read that goes quite quickly, there are some parts that were a bit of a stretch and did annoy me somewhat. But that did not stop me from enjoying this book fully and having a smile at the end.

This sounds like a romance I would enjoy reading. I don’t think the age difference should matter . If it was reversed and the man was older no one would question it.

Fun and interesting. Love the title. It’s what grabbed my attention right off. My daughter is redheaded and actually likes that fact. It sounds like the main character here does, too. Sassy. Too bad about some parts being a stretch but that occurs many times in books. Enjoying them is the main thing. I’m a librarian and love books. Keep reading!

Wow ~ when do find time to read? LOL? This does sound like a fun book, even though I am not very fond of “romance” novels. But I am all for some laughs these days so I will see if I can find it at the library. Thank you so much for the review.

  4. Sounds like a fun read. I just put it on hold at my library. They also have the other 2 in the series so I’ll order those after I read this one. Thanks.
