Winners for October 4th + Jury Duty

Good morning everyone! TGIF! Yay…Friday has finally arrived. I am hoping to get all of my online work done today because I have to work at my other job this weekend. Do you have any weekend plans? I got a few local reviews to do and we are going to take Princess to the orchard to pick apples and get some pumpkins.

Today’s Topic: Yesterday I got a “jury duty” summons in the mail and was a little surprised about it since I did jury duty a few years ago and now I have to go back again. I didn’t realize you could be picked again so soon. Hubby did jury duty 2 years ago. Have any of you ever been summoned for jury duty? If so, what did you think about it? A lot of my friends look for ways to get out of doing jury duty but frankly, I liked serving the first time around as I feel it is part of my American job duty. Your thoughts?

We had a few giveaways close late last night so we do have winners to announce this morning. As always, we spend time every morning validating entries, trashing out the cheater entries and then randomly select a winner using random.org. We then double check that persons entry to make sure it’s legit and then finalize it.

Winner for Sportz Crazy Mama is… Alicia Jukniewicz
Winner for Jane Porter Books is… heather Paddy

Congratulations ladies! I will be emailing you both shortly so that you can claim your prizes. Have a great Friday and an even BETTER weekend!

A late confratulations to the winners.
October 4th is my husband’s birthday so we traveled to our son and daughter-in-law’s home and stayed there for the weekend. We saw the Eugene Onegin playing live in HD ar thge movie theater. It was very enjoyable and different from seeing it at the opera house because of the filming aspect (seeing the s=actors close up, etc).
I have been on jury duty twice and I believe it depends on whether it is a county or federal court and you can call up to ask if you are sup[posed to be picked yet..

I had jury duty once a long, long time ago and I really enjoyed the experience, as well. I have been called several times since moving out to Alabama, but it is actually for a courthouse that is an hour+ away! And my van is either on the fritz or completely dead, so I’ve never been able to go. They would even pay for my hotel fees. Oh well, maybe one day.

  3. I think I am one of those rare people that would LOVE to serve jury duty…because I want the experience. Every one around me is selected, and I never get a letter.

  4. I was sent jury duty letter once, but when I showed up I was sent home. No cool stories.

Congratulations to the winners…happy shopping and reading!

My husband was put on jury duty along time ago when we first moved here. He was sequestered, and it was the longest two weeks. In the end, he said everyone should do it….Once. He wasn’t happy about the turnout and learned a lot of issues in the system, but it was an eyeopening experience for us all. My daughter was questioned, but she has a background in criminal justice plus problems that conflicted with the trial.
