Summer and warm weather just means easy meals at our house. Everyone is going all the time and with it being so warm where we live, having a meal without having to use the oven is wonderful! Here at our home, we love burgers and I was so excited to find out that as a Good Cook Kitchen Expert, we have been challenged to create a Stuffed Burger and share it with you, our other bloggers and the rest of the world!

We have been challenged to come up with a unique and delicious recipe that will make you want to drool and vote for our burger as the best over at GoodCook next month. So the challenge was thrown and I was up for the task! I have to say narrowing down the final recipe was difficult! My family and I had created 3 different stuffed all beef burger recipes using the cool new Good Cook Burger Stuffer and the new Good Cook Cast Iron Grill. I was so excited to test out the new products!
good cook stuffed burger press https://twoclassychics.com
The burger stuffer is so cool to use! You simple lay half of your hamburger meat inside and use the plunger end of the top to create the well. You then lay in the stuffing inside the well. Take the second half of the burger and place it on top, flip the lid over and press the meat together to seal it. Then remove the lid and clear side section. The hamburger will sit on the bottom piece so you do not have to try and flip it over to come out. It slides right out. Easy peasy!

I loved that I did not have to get my hands full of meat juices while trying to stuff the burger manually. I have done that many times and it just does not come out a nicely as using the press. This way the burgers are more uniform in size and the stuffing actually stays in. I have had many blow outs while cooking! 🙂 The press makes a lovely burger that is not over worked so your burger does not get tough. Plus there are measurement guides on the side of the container so you can see how big of a burger you are making! Sweet! I love this! Definitely a 5 star from me and my family!
good cook grill pan https://twoclassychics.com
The grill pan is my dream come true. My hubby and I had been looking at these over the past few months. I do have a full size grill pan and flat top for my stove but it takes up 2 burners and sometimes it is too big for what I want. So we have been looking around for a cast iron grill pan and I was thrilled to try out this new one from Good Cook. Cast iron pans and grills makes the best burgers!!

This pan comes pre-seasoned, but we re-seasoned it anyway with Crisco, stuck it in the oven for 30 minutes and wiped off the excess oil. It was ready to go and so was I. The burgers were waiting and I was getting hungrier by the minute.

The pan did a nice job of grilling the meat. The meat came out with a nice sear to it and the insides was juicy and delicious! Cast iron does such a great job with heat so the cheese was melty and everything tasted great. The pan is a great size and I love the little spout that allows you to drain off excess fat. The handle is comfortable and while it is a heavy pan, as all cast iron is, you can easily carry it.

The Recipe

So we ended up making 3 different recipes for this challenge. We voted on which one tasted the best and looks the best once it was completed. Here is my families choice for a tasty, mouthwatering stuffed burger. We hope you like it too because you get to vote on GoodCook.com for the best burgers in this challenge! More after the recipe:

The MexiCali Stuffed Burger
makes 4 – 1/3 lb burgers

Ingredients:
1.3 lbs of premium ground beef
8 oz. Shredded Mexican Blend Cheese
2 small cans of Ortega Green Chiles – leave 1 can whole and chop the other can
Favorite Salsa or Picante Sauce
1000 Island Dressing
Soft Kaiser Rolls
Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder

Directions:
Take a portion of your hamburger meat and place it into the bottom of the Burger Stuffer. Create the well in the meat to hold the stuffing. Place your salsa or picante sauce on the bottom. Be careful not to add too much so the meat does not get overly wet. Add in a handful of shredded cheese and then the chopped green chiles. Apply the top of the meat and seal with the Burger Press. Season your meat and place on the grill pan. Cook over medium heat.

Once the meat is cooked, use a thermometer to verify 160 degrees, start to build your burger. Add additional cheese to the top of the burger. If it does not melt, throw it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Open the roll and add 1000 Island Dressing to the top and bottom. Place your burger on the roll, add one whole ortega chile and additional salsa or picante sauce if desired.

Serve with chips and salsa and enjoy!
