Good Cook Food Chopper and Taco Salad Recipe

good cook food chopperI have been having so much fun being a Good Cook Kitchen Expert and sharing all sort of fun kitchen tools that Good Cook offers. The Treasure Hunt is still going on until May 21st and you can play along to find codes on participating blogs, Facebook and Twitter. Plus, don’t forget you can also enter to win a non-slip Batter Bowl where 4 of our lucky readers are going to win!

I too have been playing along, but in a totally different way! I was sent some products to review and check out from the new line of Touch kitchen tools. This line features softer handles and ergonomic shapes to keep your hands comfortable while using the tools. I had a ton of fun playing with these goodies! I had a hard time featuring just one item, but I narrowed it down.

One of my favorite items is also a fun one. It is the Good Cook Food Chopper. I know what you are thinking… but this is seriously cool. The unit comes completely apart for cleaning. Plus is has a cup to collect the chopped food, if you choose. Or you can use it right on the cutting board. I decided to try it out on some egg salad the other day and it was great. It was perfect for chopping everything quickly so lunch was done in a jiffy.

I also used it on my Taco Salad Recipe that I want to share with you. It made fast work of this too! I love my new food chopper from Good Cook!
Taco Salad Recipe
I live where it is hot 9 months of the year so there are many days that cooking or baking is not on the top of my list. I created this delicious Taco Salad to fill us up on days where that oven is not getting turned on. Enjoy!

Taco Salad Recipe

1 head of Iceburg lettuce or Romaine – chopped
1 lb of Hamburger
Taco Seasoning Mix
1 can of Ranch style beans
1 small can of Chopped Olives
8 oz Shredded Cheddar or Pepper Jack
Tortilla Chips
1000 Island Dressing or Salsa

optional: green onions, tomato, avocado

Directions: Brown the hamburger, drain and add in your favorite taco seasoning. Mix through the meat and allow to simmer for a few minutes to combine the flavors and reduce the liquid. Remove from the heat and let it cool. In a sauce pan, warm the beans through, remove from the heat and set aside. Prepare your lettuce and place in a large bowl. Layer onto the lettuce the meat mixture, the beans with sauce, Olives, cheese and any other topping you wish to add. Top with enough 1000 Island Dressing (or hot sauce/ salsa) to coat – about 3-5 tablespoons. Take 2 large spoons and toss everything together in the bowl. Top with crushed tortillas and enjoy!

I hope that you are enjoying our Good Cook products and give this recipe a try on your next hot day!

I LoVe all the stuff at Good Cook – wouldn’t know where to start if someone gave me a shopping spree, although I do like the idea of your chopper as my current one(zyliss, I think) is crapping out. I’ll take the discount code and see what I can find for myself…
