The Beautiful Hershey Gardens

The Beautiful Hershey Gardens

As some of you know, we live 15 minutes from downtown Hershey in Pennsylvania. Hershey is known as being the sweetest place on earth and is a major tourist destination here in our area. During the spring, summer and fall months, thousands upon thousands of

Victorian Oceanfront Homes in Cape May

We love visiting southern New Jersey and do so several times ever year. We particularly love the Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May areas. If you’ve never visited Cape May, it’s world known for it’s beautiful Victorian-style homes and many of them are oceanfront or

The Lighthouse and Pirate Festival

The Lighthouse and Pirate Festival

Mock Pirate ShipI admit…I’m a beach lover. If I had my way, I would live along the Atlantic coast for the rest of my life and never get bored. I love everything that has to do with a seaside life. I love the food, culture, buildings, activities, sounds of the waves and everything else that goes along with it.

Every chance we get we take off and go down to our beach house in southern New Jersey. While we are there…we do rest & relax but we also love to go out and play tourist too!

Back in June of 2015 we were down for 2 1/2 weeks and had the time to visit the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse and Pirate Festival. This is a FREE event for locals and tourists to attend! The lighthouse is located in North Wildwood New Jersey.

Aye-Aye Pirate Costumes

There are craft booths, art exhibits, food, beverages, live entertainment, etc. You will often see people dressed up in their pirate costumes too! When we were at the festival…that was one of my favorite things to see, amazing costumes!!!

If you’re ever in North Wildwood, Stone Harbor, Avalon or the Cape May area…make sure you pay the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse a visit.

Herefored Inlet Lighthouse

You can tour the lighthouse grounds and beautiful garden areas for free. If you want to tour the inside of the lighthouse, there’s an admission fee. Some of the events that they hold on the grounds are free and others will require a small fee. Regardless, we visit the lighthouse every time we are in town!

We will be attending the 2016 Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Festival and are really looking forward to it. Matter of fact, I’m already counting down the days!

North Wildwood in New Jersey – The Seawall

North Wildwood in New Jersey – The Seawall

I can’t believe we are finally into the month of April and that spring has finally arrived! This past winter was long, cold and definitely dreary. I’m glad that we have finally put winter 2016 into the books. Now that spring is finally here…I’m looking

Ben Franklin Memorial at The Franklin Institute

Ben Franklin Memorial at The Franklin Institute

Ben Franklin MemorialHubby and I love to travel and luckily for me…my main job affords us a lot of traveling pleasure. We love to visit a wide variety of places but particularly love exploring Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and New York. Yup, we do enjoy running around the northeast!

If you ever get the chance to visit Philadelphia we highly recommend a visit to The Franklin Institute. The Institute and Museum has all kinds of great activities for the entire family to enjoy. You can check out their rotating exhibits, live science shows, participate in discovery camp, visit the planetarium, the train factory and more!

When visiting The Franklin Institute you’ll want to stop by the Ben Franklin Memorial where you can learn about Philadelphia’s most famous resident, Ben Franklin which is located in the rotunda. This memorial is absolutely a must-see when visiting the institute!

We recommend setting aside at least 3 hours when visiting The Franklin Institute so that you can take in many of the activities and exhibits that they have to offer. It’s definitely not a place that you can see & do in just an hour. Nope, you’ll need to spend several hours to really experience it all.

Well, there you have it! My “almost” Wordless Wednesday travel photo for this week. Have you ever visited the institute or seen the Ben Franklin Memorial before?

Spring Gardening – Early Bloomers

Spring Gardening – Early Bloomers

I’m not a fan of winter at all and always find that season of the year depressing. Matter of fact, as soon as winter starts, I start counting down to the first day of Spring! Spring has finally arrived here on the northeast coast and
