Family Day Trip to the National Aquarium in Baltimore

Family Day Trip to the National Aquarium in Baltimore

Last fall we took our kids down to the National Aquarium in Baltimore for a visit. Every year we try to visit at least a dozen aquariums, zoos and wildlife parks around the tri-state area. It’s a great educational experience for the kids and they

Creating a Tour of World War II Historic Sites

For history buffs, there’s not much better than a vacation that encompasses a few battlefields. If your interest focuses on the European Theater of Operations during World War II you can expand that interest beyond the front lines to visit the places that made history

A Relaxing Walk on the North Wildwood Seawall

A Relaxing Walk on the North Wildwood Seawall

North Wildwood SeawallNorth Wildwood in New Jersey is my favorite place to visit! We go down to the Jersey Shore several times a year. Matter of fact, we’re hoping to be living down there on a full-time basis within the next few years. Yup, hubby is going to retire in 3-4 years. Finally!

We enjoy walking and always head to the North Wildwood Seawall when we’re in town. It’s a cement seawall walking trail that runs along the Atlantic Ocean and Hereford Inlet. You get some of the prettiest ocean views & beach views while walking on the seawall.

Along the way you’ll find a couple of covered pavilions if you want to sit down in the shade. We will often sit and spot dolphins playing out in the water. Last fall we spotted a few seals up on the beach too. Shore birds are plenty in this area, so if you’re a bird watcher, you’ll enjoy this part of the island too.

When we choose to sit on the beach or walk the beach…this is where we go. The beach is nice & clean in this area and there’s plenty of room to stretch out. It’s also the BEST place on the island to go shelling! This is often the area where I find my larger whelk shells, sand dollars and starfish. Best time to go shelling? Low tide!

The seawall is open year-round and when we’re on the island we try to walk it at least once a day. I like going over early in the morning to watch the sun rise up over the Atlantic Ocean. No better way to start your day at the beach than watching a gorgeous sunrise!

Over the next few weeks I’ll share some more photos of things we saw and experience while on our latest trip to North Wildwood. Fun, fun, fun!

Beautiful, Free and Clean Beaches in North Wildwood

Beautiful, Free and Clean Beaches in North Wildwood

Heading to the Jersey Shore? If so, you’ll want to plan your next trip to North Wildwood in New Jersey. In my honest opinion, they have the cleanest beaches in the south Jersey area! Not only are they clean, but they’re free! No beach tags

Coastal Street Art on 18th Street Canal in North Wildwood

Coastal Street Art on 18th Street Canal in North WildwoodWe’re big fans of Street Art and have been documenting the beautiful art and wall murals that we come across on the blog for the past 11 years. While we enjoy all kinds of different street art, coastal and beach art is our favorite!

While down in North Wildwood we stumbled upon 18th Street Canal, an area on the west side of the island. You won’t find tourist gift shops, amusement parks, attractions, etc. in this particular area. It’s mostly residential with a few commercial businesses mixed in.

I’m not sure when they added the colorful wall murals but it was fairly recent. The colors are still bright and vivid. I would guestimate that within the past few years. On the other side of that cement wall is where you’ll find the canal, docks and fishing boats.

When most people visit the Wildwoods island they head straight to the beach side (Atlantic Ocean) and never explore the rest of the island. The west side is just as pretty, at least in my honest opinion!
