Play and Learn with the AlphaBeasts – Cuddly and Fun!

Play and Learn with the AlphaBeasts – Cuddly and Fun!

alphabeasts for kidsToday I would like to introduce you to a line of children’s products called AlphaBeasts which are great play toys and learning tools for young children. There is a soft and cuddly AlphaBeasts for every letter of the alphabet and each one is different. You will find girl and boy Alphabeasts, so there is one to suit every child. The Alphabeasts are recommended for children ages 2 and over.

Who are the AlphaBeasts (from their site): The Alphabeasts are super-friendly characters that possess special powers. These incredible powers help the beasts work together to solve any problem on their exciting adventures. Always doing what is right, the Alphabeasts are giving and courteous, and they love to watch out for each other.

Our Review: We receive the Zipperzoom Alphabeasts to review for all of you. This adorable Alphabeasts measures 15″ tall so they are a super nice size. They are totally reversible and one side of Zipperzoom is done in pink and the other side is done in purple. (both are Grand-Wee-One’s favorite colors). Zipperzoom has 3 large eyes, a big smile with 4 triangular teeth and an embroidered letter Z on her body.

Zipperzoom’s Story: Slipping and sliding. That’s how this beast navigates his way around Alphaland. He’s a curious soul who wants nothing more than to be included in whatever’s going on at the time. And he’s a fast mover, so if you’re about to do something and Zipperzoom is around, rest assured he’ll be right next to you in no time.

Although they refer to this Alphabeast as being a “he” on the attached card, I consider it to be a “she” thanks to it being done in pink and purple colors. I gave the grand-wee-one her new Alphabeast and she was immediately in love with her. She is soft and cuddly and makes a great “friend” for your little one to have around. Grand-Wee-One is going to be 3 the end of May so she hasn’t grasped the full concept of what the Alphabeasts are meant to be…but she does consider it to be her new best friend. When we go in the car, Zipperzoom goes with us…when she takes a nap or goes to bed at night, Zipperzoom goes into bed with her.

To go along with the Alphabeasts you can purchase the Alphabeast books which I think are a must have so that your child can fully understand how to use their Alphabeast in their daily lives. Over on their web site they have a great Alphabeasts Activities section where Teachers and Parents can get ideas on how to use the Alphabeasts as teaching tools and learning aids. You can also download and print out some adorable Alphabeasts Coloring Pages for free from their web site.

As the grand-wee-one gets a little older I look forward to using the Alphabeasts as a teaching tool with her. They are super cute and we just love them! We would like to thank Alphabeasts for participating in a product review here on the TCC Blog.

The 7 Habits of Happy Kids Game by Educational Insights

Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Educational Insights based out of Southern California. Educational Insights is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators & parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!

When you visit the Educational Insights online web site you will find that it’s really easy to navigate. The web site has three tabbed categories which are the sections for Parents, Teachers and Classroom Jeopardy. Since I am a mother and grandmother…I could spend hours just browsing around their parent’s section of the web site.

My Review: Today I am reviewing “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids Game” from the author of the #1 best-selling series of 7 Habits Books. This educational game is for ages 6 to adult and for 3-7 players. It comes nicely packaged in a sturdy box with cute graphics on it for shelf storage.

The Game Includes: 1 game board, 7 player pieces, 7 token holders, 121 playing cards, 61 tokens, 1 pair of Ear-Resistibles bunny ears, 1 die.

How To Play The Game: Select a character, the characters are based on The 7 Habits of Happy Kids book. Roll the die and move that number of spaces around the game board. Listen to a question (from the playing cards) and follow the instructions on the card to respond with a personal story, drawing or even a song. Place the token that corresponds to the habit your question addresses in your holder (the holders are shaped like big red #7’s). Be the first person to fill your holder with tokens from each habit and you win the game!

We decided to play this game with my 3 nephews who range in ages 9 through 12. We read the instructions that are included with the game and in a matter of minutes we were all playing the game. It took us approximately 40 minutes from start to finish but we had 5 players so it goes pretty quickly. We had a lot of fun listening to the boy’s stories that went along with the habit questions printed on the playing cards. It was a great way for us to get to know them a little bit more and we were pretty amazed at their stories that they shared with us! I will admit, none of the boys would wear the included bunny ears though!

We had a lot of fun playing this game with them and they really enjoyed the game. Matter of fact, they took the game home with them as Cam is having a sleepover for his Birthday next weekend and he wants to use the game at his sleepover party.
