Homemade Turkey Spice Rub Recipe

Homemade Turkey Spice Rub Recipe

We enjoy roasting turkey a few times every year. During the holidays we’ll roast a whole one and during other times of the year we’ll roast a half or quarter. Turkey isn’t just for Thanksgiving, it’s great year round. When it comes to seasoning it we like to use this homemade spice rub recipe. Depending on the size of the bird or of you’re doing smaller portions…you may need to double or triple up the recipe to get the amount of spice rub that’s needed.

Homemade Turkey Spice Rub Recipe

Before I get to the recipe I want to introduce you to Selefina, the spice shop through Adagio Teas. Selefina sells your classic spices like parsley and oregano…along with chili powder, crystallized ginger root, Cacao nibs, and everything in between. You can purchase samples sizes, regular sizes, refills, and empty spice jars if you need those! High quality, fresh spices and seasonings shipped straight to your door.

For this recipe I used the delicious spices from Selefina. I’ve been using their products for over a year and love them! They’re a must-have in my pantry. They’re some of the best spices that I’ve ever used. Trust me, using high-quality spices makes a difference in your recipes! High quality…doesn’t mean expensive! All of Selefina’s products are affordable.

Selefina Jamican Jerk Seasoning Kingston Blend

Homemade Turkey Spice Rub Recipe

1 tsp. Selefina Vietnamese Peppercorn
1 tsp. Selefina Hungarian Sweet Paprika
1 tsp. Selefina Rosemary
2 tsp. Selefina Thyme
1/2 tsp. Selefina Ground Nutmeg
1 tsp.  Selefina Oregano
2 or 3 tsp. Selefina Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp. instant chicken bouillon

In a small mixing bowl combine together all of the above ingredients. I just stir them together with a spoon until everything is mixed together. I mist the turkey with just a tad of water (don’t soak it) and then apply the rub. You want to get the rub on all sides!!! If you’re roasting a whole turkey, add some of the rub inside the bird too!

Roast (bake) the bird until the meat is done.

Muddy Buddies Cereal Snack Mix Recipe – Perfect for Family Movie Nights

Muddy Buddies Cereal Snack Mix Recipe – Perfect for Family Movie Nights

We try to enjoy a movie night with the kids every week. During our family movie nights we like to make and serve finger foods. While popcorn is nice, it gets boring. Last weekend I whipped up the Muddy Buddies Chex Cereal Snack Mix which is easy to make. There’s no baking at all. As soon as you have it prepared it’s ready to eat. A very nice alternative to making popcorn!

The recipe calls for 3 different Chex Cereals. I ignore that. I use whatever flavor I want. Sometimes one flavor, two or all three. Just make sure you have the 9 cups that it calls for. Next, for smaller families, feel free to cut the recipe down into half so that it doesn’t make so much.

For this recipe I used the Selefina Cocoa Powder which really adds a nice depth of chocolate flavor in addition to the semi-sweet chocolate chips that the recipe calls for. One of the reasons I love and USE the Selefina Cocoa Powder is because it’s a “fine” powder. You won’t find lumps and chunks. Plus, the chocolate flavor is perfect, not bitter like you may think.

Chex Mix Muddy Buddies Snack Mix Recipe

3 cups of Rice Chex Cereal
3 cups of Corn Chex Cereal
3 cups of Chocolate Chex cereal
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup Selefina Cacao Powder
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups powdered 10X sugar

In a large mixing bowl combine together all of the Chex cereals until combined; set aside.

In a large microwaveable bowl melt together the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter until smooth. Do this on the high setting at 30 second intervals until smooth and creamy. Remove from microwave and stir in the vanilla extract until combined.

Pour the chocolate mixture into the mixing bowl that contains the cereal. Use a large spoon and stir until everything is combined and the chocolate mixture is coating all of the goodies in the mixing bowl. Pour the confectioner’s sugar into the bowl and stir again until all ingredients are well combined and everything is coated in the confectioner’s sugar.

Cover bowl. You can store in the refrigerator or at room temperature like we do.
