6 Ingredients Beef Roast Dry Rub Recipe

6 Ingredients Beef Roast Dry Rub Recipe

Last month our local butcher was running a nice sale on beef roasts at 30% off their normal price. I decided to purchase 4 beef roasts to stock up my freezer. These cuts of beef are versatile when it comes to preparing family meals. If you’re looking to keep things easy…I recommend trying this dry rub recipe on a beef roast and then baking it (roasting it) in your oven at 375 degrees for 2-4 hours (depending on the thickness of the roast).

I like to rinse the roast under running tap water. Then I rub down all of the sides with the dry rub. You may need to double-up on the ingredients if you’re working with a large sized roast. Be generous with the seasoning!

Below you’ll find the instructions on how I bake it in the oven. However, I use this same dry rub recipe when I’m placing it into my slow cooker. I add a combination of water and beef broth into the crockpot (just enough to cover the meat) and then place the seasoned roast inside. Place the lid on. You can slow cook it for 6 hours on the low setting or on the high setting for 3 hours. You can peel potatoes (I like using small red potatoes) and toss them into the crockpot to cook along with the meat. Makes for a delicious weeknight dinner.

6 Ingredients Beef Roast Dry Rub Recipe

6 Ingredients Beef Roast Dry Rub Recipe

3 Tbsp. garlic powder
2 Tbsp. salt
2 Tbsp. ground black pepper
1 tsp. ground chili powder
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. ground paprika

In a small bowl combine together the 6 ingredients listed above. Rub the seasoning mixture onto all sides of the beef roast. Place the seasoned roast into a refrigerator-safe container with a lid. Refrigerate for 2 or more hours.

Remove from the refrigerator and let it sit on the counter-top for 15-20 minutes to take the chill off. I do this while I’m preheating my oven to 375 degrees F. Place the roast into a baking dish and bake for 2-4 hours, depending on the size. I like to check the baking process after 45 minutes to judge the baking time. Every roast is a different thickness and size, so the baking time isn’t 100% accurate. We like our’s medium done so we bake it until we don’t see pink and the juices run clear. Remove from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
