Our Cat Romeo LOVES All-Natural Meowijuana Catnip

Our Cat Romeo LOVES All-Natural Meowijuana Catnip

Like the majority of cats our boy Romeo loves catnip! However, he’s finicky about the type of catnip that he’ll snack on. It has to have a strong aroma without a lot of stem pieces within it. We don’t give it to him every day,

5 Tips for Buying the Perfect Pet Stroller

5 Tips for Buying the Perfect Pet Stroller

5 Tips for Buying the Perfect Pet StrollerWe spent a lot of time outdoors and enjoy taking our cat Romeo along with us. At first he wasn’t fond of getting into a pet stroller and riding around in it. We had to work with him over the course of 2 weeks before he willingly got into it and now loves it.

When it comes to buying the perfect pet stroller you need to consider these 5 things before purchasing it.

1. What kind of pet will be riding in it? A dog or a cat? What size and weight is your pet? You’ll want to select a stroller that is large and sturdy enough for your furry friend. Take your pet’s measurements and measure the stroller that you’re considering. They should be able to comfortably lay down and turn around in it.

2. Where will you be using it? You’ll need to consider the wheels if you plan on using it on rough terrain, sidewalks, sand, grassy fields, etc. Make sure that the wheels can handle the terrain that you’ll be using it on.

3. Entry and exit points. The stroller should have more than one way for your pet to get in and out of it. The one that we use has a front and top entry & exit. This allows for Romeo to get in and out himself and for us to reach-in and get him.

4. The handle bar. Make sure the handle is at a comfortable height for you to push it around. Some have adjustable handles (we prefer them) since I’m 5″ shorter than my husband. I don’t want a backache after taking our little guy out for a walk.

5. Storage. We like to spend a lot of time outdoors on long walks in the park or down the boardwalk. We tend to take things along with us like bottled water (for us and Romeo), pet treats, snacks, his leash & harness (in case we get him out), etc. Storage is something to consider if you want to be hands-free and only pushing the stroller.

How do you get your furry friend used to riding in a pet stroller? With practice! We parked our stroller in our family room for a week and opened it up. Romeo was allowed to crawl in and out of it as he pleased. When he willingly got into the stroller with a command he got a reward (a treat) and so forth. After 2 weeks of practicing with him he was ready to roll. He now loves to go outside on walks with us and we take him out as often as we can. That’s Romeo in the photo above enjoying his walk last week.

West Paw Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Treats

This new collection of treats includes two single-ingredient varieties (Beef Liver and Beef Heart) and two limited-ingredient varieties (Duck with Superfood and Pork with Superfood). My dogs Otis and Nick received a package of West Paw’s Duck with Superfood Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Treats, which they give a big paws-up. These treats have only six ingredients, all sustainably sourced, harvested, and processed in the USA. West Paw calls the treats “nutrition bombs” that “combine protein-packed duck, fiber-rich, beta-carotene-loaded sweet potatoes and carrots, superfood blueberries and kale, probiotic goat milk—and nothing else. And then they’re freeze-dried so not a single sliver of nutrition is lost.”

West Paw Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Treats

Thanks to the freeze-drying process, the package only weighs 2.5 ounces but is actually pretty big and contains plenty of treats, enough to keep Otis and Nick satisfied for quite a while. Seriously, my doggos love their West Paw treats! As for me, having learned how healthy these treats are as well as the care that goes into making them, I love West Paw treats, too. West Paw offers a “Love It Guarantee,” saying “We’re in it for the wags—we replace or refund anything that doesn’t induce a happy dance.” I can confirm that in our house, West Paw treats do indeed induce lots of wags and happy dog dances!

In addition to their new treat collection, West Paw makes a wide range of non-edible products for dogs, including toys, puzzles, durable chews, beds, blankets, collars, and leashes, and now they also offer face masks for humans, based on the Johns Hopkins pattern. Using West Paw’s Retailer Locator, I was happy to see that I can choose from about a dozen nearby places to shop for West Paw products, ranging from Target to pet-supply stores to the county Humane Society. The listings helpfully include website links, so before heading out, I can explore what’s available and where. I’m in the market for a puzzle toy and chews for Nick, so this is a useful feature for me.
