Whisker City Cat Vest Harness and Leash Set

Whisker City Cat Vest Harness and Leash Set

We rescued and adopted our boy Romeo when he was 3 1/2 months old. The rescue group told us he was found at age 1 week lying in a farmer’s cornfield all alone. He was abandoned by his mother with no other cats around. The farmer took him to a local vet who hospitalized him for dehydration, infection and a few other things. Once he was stable he was turned over to a rescue group who nursed him back to health. We then adopted him and became his loving parents.

Romeo is an important member of our household. He is treat like the little Prince that he is! He has numerous fluffy cat beds, baskets of kitty toys, his own blankets and even an outdoor Catio that he loves. We love him like our own child and we can tell that he loves us. He’s now 4 years old and we can’t imagine our lives without him.

Whisker City Cat Vest Harness and Leash Set

Last month I purchased him Whisker City Cat Vest Harness and Leash Set. He’s never been in a harness or on a leash. I’m slowly working with him on that. We want to teach him to love going out for walks with us. He currently goes on walks but rides around in his Kitty Cat Stroller. I think a harness and leash would give him even more freedom since he’s an indoor only cat.

The Whisker City cat harnesses and leash sets come in various colors, prints and sizes. I selected one for an ADULT sized cat. There’s a buckle so that you can adjust the harness to fit your kitty’s particular size. The included and matching leash attaches to the harness via the metal D-ring. If you look closely at the harness you’ll see the adorable matching bow-tie.

Included are some tips on how to get your feline friend used to wearing a harness and walking on a leash. Things like practicing with just the harness on at first. Once he/she gets used to that you add the leash and let them drag it around inside for a few days first. You should reward them with a lot of petting, snuggles and treats. Once they’re comfortable with it…start taking them outside for short walks and work your way up to longer ones.

Where did I buy this adorable set? I purchased the Whisker City Cat Harness and Leash Set from Amazon for a really great price.

How to Sew an Easy Catnip Toy

How to Sew an Easy Catnip Toy

Like most cats…Romeo enjoys playing with catnip toys. He will play with them for hours at a time until that toy loses it’s scent. He tosses them, chases them, and rolls them all over his body. He gets really excited when we give him a new toy containing catnip cat nip.

How to Sew an Easy Catnip Toy

Two weeks ago I decided to make him a few simple catnip toys using cat nip, cotton stuffing, cotton fabric and my sewing machine. I ordered a large package of catnip from Amazon which arrived 2 days later. When buying it you only want to buy the STALKLESS varieties! You ONLY need a small amount of cotton fabric (scraps will do) and cotton stuffing to make them.

You can make them any size or shape that you would like. I made rectangles that measure 4″ by 6″ in size and 3″ by 5″ in size. Cut out the fabric rectangles and place the right sides together. Use your sewing machine to sew 3 1/2 edges together. Turn the fabric right side out through the hole that you left. The pretty side of the fabric should be facing out.

Add some of the cotton stuffing (batting pieces) and then a tablespoon or two of catnip. Then follow-up with additional stuffing. Use the sewing machine to sew the little pillow shut. I made sure that all of my seams and stitching were tight and strong. Romeo can be a little “rough” with his cat nip toys.

I made several of them in one afternoon. I store them in a zipper close plastic bag so they don’t lose their scent. I give him a new one every 2 weeks to play with. Do not toss them into the washer/dryer when dirty. Once your feline friend is done playing with them…just toss in the trash.
