To say my dog is particular about his food and snacks is an understatement. He’s the only dog I know that will take one sniff of a treat and walk away if it doesn’t meet his discerning palate! My spoiled pooch, Colby, got to assist me with my recent review and he definitely didn’t walk away from this treat. We were sent a bag of Indigo Smokehouse Strips with 100 percent premium cuts of chicken and let me tell you, his tail won’t stop wagging when he sees me opening the bag.
Indigo Smokehouse Strips by PetSafe is a safe and natural healthy jerky alternative. There are no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives in this natural meaty treat, they don’t include any bi-products, they don’t contain corn, wheat or soy and they are packed with a smoked and cured flavor and vacuum sealed for freshness. Additionally, the Indigo Smokehouse Strips are made in the USA.
Most of the time, we feed Colby fresh chicken and beef mixed in with his kibble (as I said earlier, he’s just a tad bit spoiled). The day that I received these treats in the mail, we were having some friends over for dinner and as spoiled as he is, we try and limit feeding him our food from the table. He patiently waited that night for us to finish and that’s when I busted out this new treat. He seriously loved these little wonderful slices of meaty heaven. I think he did all of the tricks in his arsenal that night just to keep scoring more goodies. Sit, roll over, shake—even the dreaded high five. He HATES doing that trick, but he was high fiving everyone for a treat that night.
These treats come in two flavors –chicken (which is the one that Colby reviewed) and bacon—and are available in a variety of sizes. We received the 6 ounce package, which should last us about a month or so. What I thought was really useful, was the enclosed plastic, re-sealable bag that keeps the treats fresh when stored in the fridge.
It is available for $9.99 on the web site, which seems like a great price for such a high-quality product. I’m sure your furry pal will love them just as much as mine did. Colby definitely gives the Indigo Smokehouse Strips 10 out of 10 tail wags for sure!

Our grand dog is now 4 years old. Every other weekend she comes to our home to spend the weekend with us. Luckily for us, my daughter only lives a few minutes from our home so sharing Miss Nellari between us is an easy thing that we both enjoy.
Recently we had the chance to sample the new @PurinaBeyond Simply 9 Dog Food that is currently available at Walmart. We had been very displeased with the current brand of dog food that we have been using and were really excited for this opportunity since it is an all natural pet food!
First I am going to tell you about this new line of pet food from Purina® and then I will share our personal experience with it. Here is a tip before we get started:
Anytime you change your pets food…it is important to do it slowly. Continue to feed your pet their normal food but decrease it while mixing in the new food over a period of several days or a couple of weeks. This will help to prevent tummy upset plus gives you time to see if your pet has any allergies.
The new Purina® Beyond® line uses all natural ingredients. There are no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. This is something that has always concerned me so I am very happy that this line is now hitting the marketplace.
The pet food includes real meat, poultry or fish as their number one ingredient. They don’t use poultry by-products at all. Your pet is getting HIGH QUALITY, natural ingredients. The pet food recipes are crafted without corn, wheat and soy too! Where the ingredients come from and are sourced are important to Purina® and they should be important to all pet owners too!

For our review we were sent a bag of the new Beyond® Simply 9 White Meat Chicken & Whole Barley Recipe dog food to review for all of you. Over a period of 5 days, we fed Miss Nellari less of her current brand of dog food, mixed in & increased the amount of the new dog food we were giving to her.
During the transition and after the transition she experienced no tummy upset at all. In addition, she had no problems with elimination either. These are all big plus’ in my book since she is often tummy sensitive.
The first thing I noticed is that she “ran” to her bowl during feeding time with her tail wagging! She loves to eat but this was different…she was more excited than normal. Second, she felt full afterwards and wasn’t begging us for more food an hour later which had been happening previously due to her previous brand giving her tummy upset. Third, as you watched her eat…you could tell that this was different and she was excited to have her nose & mouth in her bowl. She would sniff for a few seconds and then gulp it right down…completely satisfied when she was done!
Now to be a little graphic….previously her old food would upset her tummy and often times she would vomit on the kitchen floor within minutes after eating. In addition, often times she would get bouts of belly aches with loose stools following that. Once we had her completely switched over to this new Purina® Beyond® Simply 9 dog food, all of that stopped! Seriously, it stopped! I think something in her old brand was causing this tummy upset because now…she doesn’t experience that anymore! We are happy about that!
