Two months ago we were on a road trip from central Pennsylvania down to Florida and back. We spent 2 weeks driving around and exploring things along the way. We stopped to visit several well-known tourist attractions along with many off-the-beaten path attractions and small towns. What a great way to explore America!

One afternoon we stopped at the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. It was fairly easy to get to. The aquarium is open year-round. You can visit their website to get driving directions, their hours of operation and to learn more about the facility. It’s one of the best aquariums, especially along the east coast.

While there you’ll see hundreds of different animals on exhibit. You’ll learn about each animal and their natural habitat. Along the way you’ll learn about conservation, how you can help and all sorts of fun things. It’s truly an educational experience. You can participate in several hands-on experiences and shows while you’re there.

If you plan on visiting…I recommend that you plan at least 3 hours in your schedule for first-time visits and 2 hours in your schedule if you’ve been there before. We took our leisurely time through the facility. These are self-guided visits! You’ll want to wear comfortable walking shoes, as you’ll be doing a lot of walking and standing on your feet.

After spending time going throughout the aquarium we grabbed a quick bite to eat at their brand new cafe. You’ll find it located on the upper level. I enjoyed a cheeseburger and french fries, while my wife enjoyed a nice chef salad. They offer all of your classic foods like pizza, burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and sandwiches. There’s a kid’s menu too! Everything on the menu was moderately priced.

We had a great visit to the Georgia Aquarium and pretty happy to have finally checked that off of our travel bucket list. We’re hoping to stop in again when we’re in the area. It’s a top-notch facility and we had a great time during our visit.
