Last month my wife and I took a day trip down to Lancaster County in Pennsylvania to visit Kitchen Kettle Village. If you’ve never been there before it’s located about 10 minutes off route 30 in a small country town called Intercourse. It’s open year-round Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays. Free admission and free parking.
Kitchen Kettle Village is an outdoor shopping and eatery village with 40+ locally owned & operated shops to visit. There’s an on-site cafe where you can grab a yummy bite to eat. You’ll find plenty of shops with handmade items, quilts, handbags, leather goods, all kinds of pre-packaged foods, a chocolate candy shop, a coffee roaster, a jewelry store and more. There’s something for everyone.
If you’re visiting for the first time you’ll want to allow 2 hours in your schedule to walk through the village and to visit the shops. I recommend going during the week or during the off-season to avoid crowds. You’ll be outside walking from shop to shop, so you’ll want to dress appropriately for the weather. The village is family-friendly.
My wife and I try to go down to Kitchen Kettle Village yearly to see what’s new. It makes for a nice day out and about. It always feels nice to support local small businesses too!

Are you brutally honest with family and friends? What do I mean. If you walked into someone’s home and it was filthy and had a foul odor…would you speak up to ask them about it? Offer your help to fix the problem? What if a friend or family member came over to pick you up. You get into their vehicle and it’s filthy inside and smells. Do you speak up and say something about it or keep your mouth shut?
