Visiting Leaman’s Place Covered Bridge in Lancaster County

Last month the wife and I went down to Lancaster County in Pennsylvania for a weekend getaway. One of the things that we enjoyed doing was the driving tour to see all of the covered bridges located in Lancaster County. These are OLD wooden bridges

Okay, let’s chat. We’re only 5 days away from the official start to spring. Who’s excited about that? Me! I’m tired of the cold and dreary weather. I’m tired of being cooped up inside. I’m ready to get outside for some exercise and fresh air. My kids are ready to spend more time outdoors too.

Our Corgi who is now 8 months old needs to be outside more. He doesn’t like the cold. He runs outside and does his business quickly and runs back inside. We’re looking forward to taking him to some of the local area dog parks for some fun.

Shopping and Fun on the Wildwood Boardwalk

Shopping and Fun on the Wildwood Boardwalk

The boardwalk in Wildwood is one of the best along the coast in New Jersey. At least in my honest opinion. There are hundreds of shops, restaurants, arcades, a few tattoo parlors, candy stores, miniature golf places, go-karts, waterparks and of course…amusement park rides. Something

A Visit to the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey

A Visit to the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey

Antique Auto Museum in HersheyLove antique cars? If so, you need to visit the Antique Auto Museum, AACA Museum in Hershey Pennsylvania. It’s one cool place to visit if you’re a car buff or just visiting the area and looking for something to do. Every year I take my 2 grandchildren to the museum to see what’s new. They always enjoy it.

The AACA Museum sits outside of downtown Hershey, removed from all of the tourist attractions. If you’re staying in the downtown area it will take you 7-10 minutes by car to get there. Parking is free. You can look up their hours of operation on their website. There’s an admission fee at the door. These are unguided tours, so you can take your time throughout the museum.

Throughout the year they do host special events there. Again, refer to their website and social media channels for current news on those. We like to visit during the “off season” and during weekday afternoons if we can. Less busier times which make it much nicer for the kids. They like to “hang” at certain exhibits, so we never feel rushed.

Some of the vehicles you can physically climb into. By that, I mean sit in the seats, spin the steering wheel, operate windows, walk down the long aisle of an old passenger bus, and so forth. My grandson likes to sit in every vehicle that he can. Not all are accessible so keep that in mind.

Downstairs there’s a really cool children’s area set up with large model train displays. The kids (adults too) can go in there and operate all of the trains. The villages along the tracks are extensive and made to represent what towns looked like 40-60 years ago. Really cool to see the old style buildings, signage, advertising, etc. That’s my grandson’s favorite thing to do at the museum.

Before leaving you can stop into the museum souvenir shop to buy some goodies. You’ll find toy cars, apparel, books, magnets and other things. A typical gift shop.
