Movie Review: Enough Said – Starring James Gandolfini

How many of you went out to see ENOUGH SAID when it was playing in the movie theater? For those who saw it, what did you think about it? Unfortunately, I had just had hip surgery so we didn’t get to see it until now!!!

Movie Review: In the Heat of the Night

in the heat of the night dvdLike a lot of people, I enjoy sitting down and watching a good crime drama unfold. There is something about bad people, doing bad things who eventually get caught that excites me.

In the Heat of the Night was released on Blu-ray DVD on January 14th, 2014 and I was sent a complimentary DVD to watch a few days ago.

In The Heat Of The Night – While traveling in the Deep South, Virgil Tibbs, a black Philadelphia detective, becomes embroiled in the murder investigation of a prominent businessman when he is first accused of the crime and then asked to solve it in spite of the efforts of the bigoted town sheriff. They’re forced to work together in a desperate race against time to discover the shocking truth!

Special Features:

* Commentary with Norman Jewison, Lee Grant, Rod Steiger and Haskell Wexler
* Turning Up the Heat: Movie-Making In the 60’s
* The Slap Heard Around The World
* Quincy Jones: Breaking New Sound
* Theatrical Trailer

My Thoughts: As I previously stated, I love a good mystery and crime drama. Hubby and I sat down a few nights ago to watch this movie and within minutes, we knew it was a good one.

There are a lot of twists, turns and plots to this crime drama as it goes along and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you think you have figured out the story line 1/3 of the way through…let me tell you, you didn’t! I have seen a lot of Sidney Poitier movies and this one is just fabulous, perhaps one of my favorite ones that he has acted in.

The only thing I didn’t like about the movie was the bigot sheriff. Personally, I am tired of any type of bigotry being put into any television show, movie, book, whatever. Time to move on from that and I didn’t feel it needed to be in this story line. I am entitled to my opinion and others can disagree.

Overall though, it was a brilliantly acted movie with plenty of suspense to keep you watching and guessing where the story line was going. It was interesting to see detective Tibbs and Sheriff set aside their differences and work together to solve the crime.

I won’t tell you how it ended as that would be a *spoiler* and I don’t post those! Would I recommend this movie to others? Yes I would! If you love gritty crime dramas that are suspenseful, this one is for you!

Movie Review: The Wolverine

The Wolverine on DVD

My husband and I are HUGE movie watchers and have a massive collection of over 4,000 DVDs here in our home. A lot of the time I get children’s DVDs to review so when an adult DVD opportunity comes my way…well, I jump all over it!

The Wolverine Extended Edition Blu-Ray was just released for purchase last week. Hubby and I wanted to see this in the movie theater but at the time it was out…I was recovering from my hip surgery. Hence, we have been patiently waiting for its release.

Synopsis: Hugh Jackman returns as The Wolverine and faces his ultimate nemesis in an action-packed life-or-death battle that takes him to modern-day Japan. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his limits, Logan confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality; an epic fight that will leave him forever changed.

My Thoughts: We received the 2-Disc set for our review and couldn’t wait to sit down to watch it…matter of fact…we were planted in front of the TV about 2 hours after this DVD showed up on our door step. This movie is rated PG-13 so older children can watch it with their parents.

The movie stars Hugh Jackman, Fanke Janssen, Will Yun Lee and others, although I consider Hugh the main star & draw to this movie. The total run time is 126 minutes, so make sure you allow yourself enough time to watch it all of the way through the first time.

Hubby and I sat down with a big bowl of popcorn and watched the movie from start to finish. I was in all of my glory seeing Hugh Jackman as The Wolverine again as he makes my heart go pitter-patter.

The story line, characters and the action & drama was absolutely fantastic in this movie! There were no ho-hum boring parts at all and it kept both of us glued to the TV the entire time. The fight scenes (action scenes) were intense and beautifully shot by the film makers. I love action movies and this movie has plenty of that!

I don’t like spoilers so I won’t tell you how this movie ended but I will tell you that its a MUST SEE if you love Super Hero and/or Action movies! We are giving it 8 1/2 stars out of 10 stars on our movie rating scale!
