Every 2-3 weeks my family gets together either at my house or my daughter’s house for family movie night. We’ve been holding movie nights ever since my daughter was a little girl and have continued the family tradition for over 25 years.
Recently we were sent a complimentary copy of the new Dreamworks HOME on DVD along with some HOME theme’d party supplies & goodies. This past weekend we all got together as a family and sat down to watch the film.

Our Thoughts: We popped some popcorn, made some slushies, had pizza and bbq wings for our family movie time. After eating…we all sat down with our popcorn & slushies to watch the film.
This is an animated movie with super adorable characters, some of the cutest animated characters that I’ve seen in a long time! It has a really nice story line that both kids and adults will appreciate. The movie is extremely funny with the type of humor most of you will appreciate. It’s not that stupid “slap stick comedy” that you find in a lot of movies these days. It’s fabulous humor that will definitely have you laughing!
For the past year or so…a certain Disney movie has been the Princess’ favorite movie. Seriously, we probably have seen that movie 50 times if not more. Well, since hosting our HOME family movie night…HOME is now her favorite movie and we’ve watched it at least 6 times so far. Seriously, it’s that good! You all have got to sit down and see it!

The new movie called “Black or White” starring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer was just released on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on May 5th, 2015.
Synopsis: Oscar® winners Kevin Costner* and Octavia Spencer** co-star in this touching comedy-drama based on real events. When two grandparents, Elliott (Costner) and Rowena (Spencer), engage in a heated custody dispute over their beloved granddaughter, the ensuing legal battle forces them to confront their true feelings on race and forgiveness. Can people from two seemingly different worlds find common ground when nothing is as simple as black or white?
My Thoughts: I’ve been a big fan of Kevin Costner’s works since the release of the movie Dances with Wolves (my favorite Costner movie) and over the years…he has grown to be one of the best male Hollywood actors who can pull off many different types of leading roles.
This movie starts out in a very dramatic fashion when he ends in a custody battle with his grand daughter’s grandmother played by Octavia Spencer. The movie takes a good hard look at race relations in this country and the disputes that can happen between families over child custody issues.
While the movie is dramatic, it does have a few little humorous points in it to break up all of the drama. The bond this grandchild has with both grandparents is deep and the acting is fantastic.
With all of the racial tensions going on right now in America, this movie will have everyone stopping to think about how they treat one another and how we all have the same feelings when it comes to our families. Overall, I give the movie a 7 out of 10 stars on my movie rating scale.
