Mother’s Day is a couple of weeks away and it’s time to starting thinking about the Mother’s Day gifts that we’ll need. I’m very fortunate that my mother is still with us and that she’s my very best friend!

I’ve always been close to my mother, even as a young child. She was a single mom who raised my brother and I without any help from my dad. Matter of fact, we were lucky if we heard from my Dad twice a year and he certainly didn’t help her out financially at all.

To survive, my mom worked hard…most of the time she worked 2 jobs just to keep a roof over our heads and food in our tummy’s. She was no slacker and was a hands-on mom! My mother taught me all about hard work and taking care of your family. Even to this day with me being chronically ill, my mother is still here helping to take care of me. I’m so proud to call her my mom!

When I can, I like to treat my mother to special little things throughout the year. We take her on vacation with us, out to dinner, to art fests & museums and all kinds of other things. In addition, I like to spoil her a few times a year with a delivery of a fresh floral bouquet which always puts a smile on her face.
