Quick and Easy Halloween Mason Jar Beverage Glasses

Quick and Easy Halloween Mason Jar Beverage Glasses

Quick and Easy Halloween Mason Jar Beverage GlassesHosting a Halloween party this year? Just looking for a quick and easy project to do with the kids? If so, it doesn’t get any easier than this!!! All you need for this project are 2 items: glass mason jars and Sharpie Markers plus your beverages of choice. Of course…if you select colorful beverages to go along with your Halloween designs the better!

What’s fun about this is that the designs aren’t permanent! They easily wash-off by handwashing with soap and water or by placing the mason jars into the dishwasher. In the photographs you’ll see an easy-to-draw Jack ‘o Lantern design and a Frankenstein. You can pick up colorful straws from Amazon or your local Dollar General Store. Personally, we like the Rainbow Stripe Paper Straws on Amazon.

Here are a few additional ideas:

Jack Skellington – with milk
Dracula – with grape juice or plum juice
Jack o’ Lantern or Pumpkin – with orange juice
Frankenstein – with veggie juice
Mummy – with milk
Alien – with green veggie juice
Witch – with grape or plum juice

You can take the Sharpie Markers and write classic Halloween messages on the jars too! Happy Halloween, Boo, Trick or Treat, etc. Since the designs aren’t permanent keep the designs simple. After drawing onto the glass mason jars let them sit for 30-60 minutes to make sure the marker is completely dry. ONLY draw on the outside of the jar!!! The marker should never come into contact with beverages or food.

Sesame Street Painted Seashells Birthday Party Favors

Sesame Street Painted Seashells Birthday Party Favors

Sesame Street Painted Seashells Birthday Party FavorsSesame Street is a popular TV show for little kids. Not only do you see those adorbable Muppets on TV, you can find them featured in various toys, games, and books. Do you have a favorite Sesame Street character? Our daughter always loved Big Bird while my husband was a fan of Oscar the Grouch.

Love to paint on shells? You’ll find 100+ painted seashell designs on the TwoClassyChics blog!

My niece is hosting a birthday party next month for her son. She asked me to come up with a unique…hand crafted birthday party favor for her Sesame Street theme. I’m NOT an expert artist at all, but I think the Sesame Street painted seashells turned out cute. They were easy to make! Here’s the Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, Bert, Ernie and the Count designs that we’ve made so far.

4″ to 5″ clam shells seashells
acrylic craft paints
paint brush, water dish, paper towels
medium-tip black paint pen
clear acrylic spray sealer in a glossy finish
free template from the web

Template: Do a Google search for Sesame Street Muppet Templates under the image search function. A lot of free ones will come up. You may need to resize them before printing. Print them out and use as your template or just free hand the design onto the shells. Simple facial features.

Base coat each shell in the desired color using 2 coats of acrylic craft paint. Allow for 30-45 minutes of drying time between the 2 coats. They need to be completely dry before proceeding.

Use a pencil and draw on the facial features. Use acrylic craft paints and a paint brush to make the facial features. Once dry, you need to trace around them using the black paint pen. Let dry again. Don’t have a steady artistic hand? Don’t worry! You can use acrylic paint markers to do all of the facial features and skip the brush!

Take the seashells outside and spray with 1-2 light coats of a clear acrylic spray sealer. I sprayed both sides of the shell allowing for 40 minutes of drying time between coats. This will protect the painted surface from chipping, cracking and the colors from fading.

So far I’ve painted 8 of them and need to paint 7 more for a total of 15 before the party. She’s using the Sesame Street painted seashells as table decorations. Once the party is over…each child can pick one to take home with them as part of their party goodie bags. Kids love souvenirs from attending birthday parties!
