Kid’s Crafts Easter Bunny Painted Wood Spoons

Kid’s Crafts Easter Bunny Painted Wood Spoons

Kid's Crafts Easter Bunny Painted Wood SpoonsTwo weeks ago I sat down with my grandchildren and god-son to make these adorable Easter Bunny wood spoons. We had several wooden spoons and spatulas that we wanted to upcycle into something new. If you don’t have any laying around in your kitchen drawers, you can buy them at your local “dollar-type” of store.

We wanted to save a little time so we painted the front and back of each one with 2 coats of white acrylic craft paint the weekend before the kids came over for their crafting play date. If you want to save even more time…the kids can use Sharpie Markers to add the bunny’s facial features. For the purpose of this post, we used the following materials listed below.

Kid’s Crafts Easter Bunny Painted Wood Spoons

Wood Spoons or Spatulas
White and Pink Acrylic Craft Paint
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
Medium-Tip Black Paint Pen
White Craft Foam
8″ Piece of Satin Ribbon
Fast-Drying Craft Glue
Scissors

Make Bunny Ears from White Craft Foam: Each spoon and spatula will be a different size. You will have to cut a rectangular block to fit behind the bunny’s head cutting a slit between the ears and rounding off the corners. You could also cut 2 separate ears. Use pink acrylic craft paint to add the “pink” inner ear. Set aside to dry.

Have the kids add the facial features: black eyes, black whiskers,  black mouth and a pink nose. Once the eyes are dry have them add the white inner eye, let dry. Dot on a tiny black dot in each eye for the pupil. Let dry.

Cut an 8″ long piece of satin ribbon. Tie it around the neck and into a bow. Use scissors to trim the ends. Use fast-drying craft glue to glue the ears onto the back of the head, as shown in the photographs. Let dry. That’s it, you’re done.

The kids have been displaying their new hand-painted Easter Bunny Wood Spoons in flower planters for indoor plants. You can use them in a variety of different ways to decorate around your house. If you plan on using them outdoors, I recommend spraying them with 2-3 coats of clear acrylic spray sealer to protect them from the weather elements.

Painted Yellow Chicks Seashells for Easter Decorating

Painted Yellow Chicks Seashells for Easter Decorating

Painted Yellow Chicks Seashells for Easter DecoratingEaster this year falls on Sunday April 21st. I’m one of those people who prefer for it to fall in late March or in early April. I just prefer the holidays to be more evenly spread out, especially after a long winter season.

Anyway, I’ve got another easy-to-make craft project to share with all of you and this one is easy enough for older children to make too!  You can use these painted chicks seashells to decorate the inside of your home, as part of the decor on your holiday table or place them outside to welcome visitors to your home. If you’re tired of the same old, same old tradition of hiding painted Easter eggs, paint up a slew of your seashells and hide those instead!

Large Clam Seashells
Yellow, White, Black, Blue and Orange Craft Paint
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer

Base coat your large clam shells with 2 coats of bright yellow acrylic craft paint and let dry. Using the black paint make 2 ovals to serve as the eyes. Use the orange paint to make a triangular-shaped beak. Let dry.

Using white paint make 2 smaller sized ovals to serve as the chick’s inner eye. Use blue paint to make a small arc-shape in the corner of each eye. Use the black paint and a fine-tip paint brush to add-on the eyebrows, eyelashes and to outline the beak. Let dry.

Take your painted seashells outside and lay them on old newspaper or on an old plastic placemat. Lightly spray them with the clear acrylic sealer. You will need 1 coat if displaying them indoors and 2 coats if you’re displaying them outdoors. Let them dry for 2-3 hours or until no longer tacky. That’s it, you’re done!
