In his Star Wars collection, he has hundreds of different figures, games, toys, an R2D2 life-size hamper, models, apparel items, Christmas ornaments and all kinds of different things. I would estimate that his collection has grown to over 1,000 Star Wars items over the years.
For the past few months my husband has been collecting the Fascinations Star Wars Metal Earth 3D Model Kits and just loves them! They’re metal model kits for grown-ups! He’s been collecting and building them for 2 reasons: 1. to add to his collection of items and 2. it’s a good way to sit down & relax after a long day at work.
The metal model kits come in flat sheets with metal pieces that you pop out. They are very small pieces, but once they’re assembled you’ll have a 3D metal model. The pieces are from museum-quality, steel sheets, so they will last for years if you properly take care of them. No glue, adhesive or solder is needed! Simply pop out the pieces and connect using tabs and holes.
It takes my husband several days and up to one full week to build one Star Wars metal model. He likes to use a pair of tweezers when working on them to help bend & twist the connection tabs, but other than that…you don’t need any tools to assemble them.
In the past I’ve blogged and showed you his R2D2 Model, his C-3PO Model and today I’m showing you the Millennium Falcon that he recently completed. This one really turned out nicely and ONLY took him a few hours to complete. Once done they get displayed in his curio cabinet down in his man cave. Yup, his man cave is decorated in a Star Wars and Washington Redskins theme.
You can find these Star Wars Metal Model Kits at various retailers across the nation, including in some of your local arts & crafts stores. However, he buys them from Amazon because they have a bigger selection and better prices.

200 years ago Paper Dolls started out as an inexpensive child’s toy and a form of entertainment for children. Over the years, they’ve turned into collector’s pieces and many artists have created them as a form of artistic expression. As a little girl, I loved playing with my paper dolls and I really wish that I had kept them over the years.
Now that I’m a grandmother to an 8 year old little girl, I’m sharing my love for paper dolls with her. The set that I’m going to introduce you to today is her fourth set and she loves them!

The dolls, their clothing and the accessories are colorful and very detailed. These are NOT punch-outs. You will need to take a small pair of scissors and cut them out and I really like that! I’m more fond of that format, because punch-outs always rip & tear. You’ll want to carefully cut out around each outfit and their tabs. I found it best to do this part for my 8 year old granddaughter since she’s not an expert with using scissors.
The inside cover of the paper doll’s book depicts a romantic balcony scene with tons of pink roses adorning it. This is the backdrop and she likes to just set that up alongside a chair or a wall while she’s playing with them. The artist did a great job with designing all of the authentic-looking clothing and accessories. As my granddaughter would say, “Juliet’s wardrobe is fit for a Princess”.
This set is NOT for little girls or toddlers. It’s a set for older girls, teens and adult women who love paper dolls! I’m so tickled to see a high-quality set of paper dolls hit the retail marketplace!
