Flower Gardening Mixed Wild Flowers

Flower Gardening Mixed Wild Flowers

I love gardening but gardening doesn’t have to be expensive! Sure, some of the flowers that we plant are expensive but we also do some cheaper ones too! For example: We purchased 5 packets of wildflower seeds at our home garden center back in early

Backyard Garden – Growing Green Bell Peppers

My hubby and I love to be outside…especially when we are working around in our backyard garden or working on a new landscape project. How many of you have a vegetable garden this year? We have two veggie gardens and both are doing extremely well.

7 Lawn Mowing Safety Tips
I love summer! The smell of fresh cut grass is one of my all time favorite scents ever. Every time I see someone cutting grass or harvesting hay, I have to roll down the window and smell the air! From the time I was just a kid of 8 or so, I was mowing lawns. First at my Grandmother’s home when we would visit during the summers and then at our own home where I would mow 1/3 acre each week or more, depending on rain. I loved cutting grass and I was really good at it.

Now that summer is in full swing, lawn mowing is at its peak! Dig out the lawnmower from under all of those winter cobwebs and get to work. But first, it never hurts to have a friendly reminder about safety around lawn mowers, so here are some tips for you!

7 Lawn Mowing Safety Tips

* Children should never be outside in the yard playing while someone is mowing the grass. As a matter of fact, you should keep pets, children, older adults, etc. inside the house or in a different part of the yard while doing lawn care.

* You may be tempted to wear ear buds and listen to music, movies or audio books while mowing the yard but its a safety risk that you shouldn’t taken. If another person is yelling for help, you will never hear them.

* Electric and gas powered equipment should be professionally serviced at least once a year. Only use machinery if it is in proper working condition.

* When the weather starts turning bad, finish up and get inside. Don’t try to squeeze in the lawn mowing while a storm is moving in.

* Always wear closed shoes and proper clothing when mowing lawns. Sticks, rocks and other debris can shoot out and cause injury.

* Do not take children, pets or unstable adults for rides on riding lawn mowers or other equipment. While you may be tempted to do it, it is a safety risk for you both!

* Utilize a buddy system whenever possible! If you are going out to do yard work, let someone else know that you are going out and when you will be back inside. If you are not finished by the stipulated time or soon after they hear the mower stop running, they can come to check on you.

Be safe this summer! Supervise kids while they are using the equipment and around others that do too.

A Guide to Caring for Indoor Plants

9 Tips for Keeping Your Indoor House Plants HealthyAdding plants to your living and work spaces is a great way to add a subtle touch of nature. Studies have found that keeping live plants in rooms can help to create an atmosphere of calmness and tranquility – two things our very busy society can greatly benefit from! While there are many different types of potted plants you can choose from, you will need to take into consideration the type of indoor environment you plan on putting them in. Excessively dry environments, for example, would be hard on just about any indoor plant; while rooms with either too little or too much lighting would also be hard for plants to thrive in.

For offices and commercial buildings especially, it’s recommended that you get in touch with a professional interior plant care company. Companies like these specialize in scoping out the type of indoor environment you wish to place plants in, and they will make recommendations based on temperature, air quality and moisture, and available light sources. While their suggestions may not be perhaps what you envisioned yourself, their recommendations for plants are the ones to follow if you want to successfully keep indoor plants thriving and thus looking their best.

Indoor plant management companies can also help you with the physical arrangement of plants. From choosing the best pots for larger plants, to figuring out how to weave potted plants in with other types of decor (such as hanging paintings or small fountains), having a professional provide step-by-step guidance will make a difference in the final look of your redecorated office.

Once your chosen indoor plants have been selected, set into pots, and set up in your office, you’ll be provided with care sheets. Generally indoor plants are easy to maintain, though you will want to make sure you provide them with the right amount of light. Don’t move plants from one type of lighting to another without first checking with a plant expert. Make sure you water your plants regularly, and if excess water spills out from the top or bottom of a potted plant, blot it up so that it doesn’t sit and become stagnant.

Adding plants to your indoor work environment is a great way to improve ambiance and even the air quality. Take the time to work with a professional indoor plant company, and together you’ll be able to make over your work environment with just the right type of nature.
