Add Color to Your Outdoor Garden Spaces with Wind Spinners

We are now into the month of May and many of us have already started working in our gardens and updating our outdoor spaces. For me personally, we have one really large veggie garden, 4 flower beds and a small berry patch. In addition, we

How to Keep Those Pesky Mosquito’s Away

How to Keep Those Pesky Mosquito’s Away

thermacell logoDuring the spring, summer and fall seasons we spend a lot of time outdoors. Some of this time is spent sitting around the pool, gardening, playing backyard games or just being outside entertaining some friends. Living up here in the northeast…we make sure we take advantage of these 3 seasons of the year & spend as much time as we can outdoors!

When you spend time outdoors you have to worry about getting bug bites. I don’t know about all of you…but I swell up like a baseball every time one of those pesky mosquito’s get me. Oh my gosh…I just hate them!

Thermacell has some great new products to help you keep those pesky bugs at bay. These new products use their patented technology to keep biting pests away. There is no need to douse in DEET to enjoy your backyard. These products are discreet, odorless and silent, clearing a 15x15ft area in literally minutes.

How Thermacell works?

* A copy of the natural insecticide found in chrysanthemums is vaporized to create a 15×15 ft zone of protection.
* Thermacell products use butane to heat a repellent pad to evenly and effectively vaporize and disseminate a repellent in the air that biting bugs HATE!
* The product has been tested by the U.S. Army in Turkey and Costs Rica for effectiveness against mosquitoes and in Maine against black flies.
* The U.S. Department of Defense has used Thermacell for over a decade to keep sand flies and other pests at bay.

I received one of the new Thermacell Backyard Torches to review for all of you and we absolutely love it! We can stake it into the ground (comes with the torch stake) or we can use it as a table-top lantern. I’ve been using their lanterns for the past few years but this is the first time I’ve used one of their backyard torches.

One of the things I love about it is that it’s not difficult to assemble (takes 5 seconds) and second…you can have it up & running in your backyard in less than 2 minutes flat. Anyone can use them! In addition, they are super lightweight and compact…easy to take along with you camping, on a fishing trip or anywhere you may be spending some time outdoors. Fabulous!!!

Gardening – Prepping for Spring Planting

I live in a home with a pretty small back yard. While it is sufficient for our needs, I did manage to take away all of my grass and planting areas by putting a pool in 15 years ago or so. Now I do love

Explosions of Spring Flowers

It has been warming up early here on the West coast and last week my hubby and I took a drive out to the country. The flowers that run along side the highway nearby were bursting with blooms. I cannot believe that they are already in bloom but the colors are so pretty! Yellow and gold, with splashes of brown and even a few purples are thrown in the mix. Here is a 2 for 1 photo shot for you for this Almost Wordless Wednesday. Enjoy!

Blooming Christmas Cactus

I love Christmas time. Not only is it a wonderful time for family, friends and holiday celebrations, it is also cold enough to force my Christmas cactus to bloom. It is a wonder to me how the plant knows that it is time to bloom.
