Many people want to get into gaming right now, and it is proving very popular. You might get a computer and carve out some space in the corner and call that your gaming space. However, some gamers might want a dedicated gaming space with no distractions. For these gamers, a gaming room is a great idea. But what do you need to turn a room into a home gaming centre?
A Gaming Computer
Of course, it cannot be a gaming room without a computer. Here, there is so much to think about that it can be difficult to cover it all. First, do you get a desktop or a laptop? This will depend on whatever else you want to do with your computer. If you only wish to use the computer while sitting on your desk, a desktop will be right for you.
However, if you wish to carry your laptop and use it elsewhere, you could get a Lenovo RTX laptop capable of gaming that you can dock to a big gaming monitor.
Other considerations include the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and cooling. You will usually get better performance on a desktop, but modern gaming laptops are also very capable.
Wired Internet
For a home office, wireless internet connectivity is adequate. However, it does not have the reliability, performance, and speed you get out of a wired ethernet connection. Because of this superior performance, you get lower pings, low latency, and less lag for a better gaming experience.
All you need for all this is a good router and switch. These days they are combined and are just called routers. There are also dedicated gaming routers that prioritise connections and packets to your gaming computer giving you a better experience.
Because they are usually more expensive than other routers, you need to think about whether the extra speed and lower lag are worth the extra pounds you would have to pay for one.
Gaming Chair
Technically any chair you sit in while gaming is a gaming chair. When we talk about gaming chairs in the context of a gaming room, we are talking about chairs that have features that are meant to enhance your gaming sessions.
These features can include ergonomic shapes and designs, extra padding, armrests, and headrests. Also, consider checking out reclining chairs because some people find these chairs more comfortable than those that do not recline.
A TV
Adding an entertainment space can be a great option especially if you have people who love consoling games or watching movies in your gaming room.
4K TVs are coming down in price as TV technology is getting better. This means you get a better experience than you would have just a few years ago at the same or a lower price. These TVs also have better colour and contrast than older TVs, making them great for both gaming and content consumption.
If you do not mind checking out something older or cheaper, amazing 1080P TVs are going on sale all the time.
You need to have at least the essentials before you call a room a gaming room. Your computer, internet, sitting space and entertainment centre are all great places to start before you add everything else.

We’re a big gaming family and get together once every 2-3 weeks to enjoy a family game night. One of our favorite companies called Endless Games sent us the new HIP TOWN to play at our next game night. This game is perfect for families with older children, teenagers, young adults, and couples to play. You’ll never get bored with this one because it’s never the same game twice!
You’ll spend 4-5 minutes reading over the instruction sheet and getting things to ready to play. There’s basically no learning curve to this one. The concept is easy to understand. It’s one of those games you can play within an hour or two (depending on how many players) so it won’t take all weekend or night to play. We sat down to play this with 3 adults and 2 young teenagers, a total of 5 players. From start to finish it took us about 70 minutes to play. We took our time too!
It’s a lot of fun. You can construct your town with the type of niche businesses that you like. Bid, Buy, Sell, and Build. It’s unlike other games out in the retail marketplace which is nice! Fresh and new! The game doesn’t take up a lot of storage space, so if you travel, go camping, tailgating, etc. take it along with you. It’s great entertainment and sure to be a hit.
