MyPlate Game Learning Resources

My Review: Today we are reviewing the “Healthy Helpings™ A MyPlate Game” from Learning Resources for all of you. This game set is made for children ages 4 and up and in grades K and up. The object of the game is to be the first person to fill up your plate with a well-balanced meal! If you choose your food and beverage options wisely, you can win! The game is best suited for 2 to 4 players.

The Game Set Includes: 4 placemats (game boards), 50 food cards, game spinner and a guide with food group facts.

I first want to state, Little G is a little over 3 years of age and with our help and guidance, she was able to play this game with us. So, if you have an advanced 3 year old, this game would be fine with them!

We sat down one afternoon to try out the game with Little G and we had 3 adult players and of course, her. It took me a few minutes to get the game set up and to read over the instructions. The concept of the game is really easy to understand and something that young kids can grasp quite quickly.

MyPlate Game Learning Resources

We all took turns spinning the spinner and taking our turns. As I previously stated, Little G is 3 years old so we did have to help her. With that said, it was funny to see what she considered a healthy meal to be. While this game is fun to play, it is educational for both children and adults! I learned a lot about healthy meals by just playing the game with her.

Your placemat (game board) has 5 sections on it that the player needs to fill up. There is a Fruits, Grains, Vegetables, Protein and Dairy section. Since little G loves fruits and grains, she was really going after those hahaha! We had a great time playing this game with her and will continue to play the game with her so that she learns about healthy foods and healthy eating. Kids learn best when they are having fun and this game is definitely fun! yeah!

You can purchase the Learning Resources Healthy Helpings: A Myplate Game directly from Amazon for a great price.

The 7 Habits of Happy Kids Game by Educational Insights

Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Educational Insights based out of Southern California. Educational Insights is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators & parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!

When you visit the Educational Insights online web site you will find that it’s really easy to navigate. The web site has three tabbed categories which are the sections for Parents, Teachers and Classroom Jeopardy. Since I am a mother and grandmother…I could spend hours just browsing around their parent’s section of the web site.

My Review: Today I am reviewing “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids Game” from the author of the #1 best-selling series of 7 Habits Books. This educational game is for ages 6 to adult and for 3-7 players. It comes nicely packaged in a sturdy box with cute graphics on it for shelf storage.

The Game Includes: 1 game board, 7 player pieces, 7 token holders, 121 playing cards, 61 tokens, 1 pair of Ear-Resistibles bunny ears, 1 die.

How To Play The Game: Select a character, the characters are based on The 7 Habits of Happy Kids book. Roll the die and move that number of spaces around the game board. Listen to a question (from the playing cards) and follow the instructions on the card to respond with a personal story, drawing or even a song. Place the token that corresponds to the habit your question addresses in your holder (the holders are shaped like big red #7’s). Be the first person to fill your holder with tokens from each habit and you win the game!

We decided to play this game with my 3 nephews who range in ages 9 through 12. We read the instructions that are included with the game and in a matter of minutes we were all playing the game. It took us approximately 40 minutes from start to finish but we had 5 players so it goes pretty quickly. We had a lot of fun listening to the boy’s stories that went along with the habit questions printed on the playing cards. It was a great way for us to get to know them a little bit more and we were pretty amazed at their stories that they shared with us! I will admit, none of the boys would wear the included bunny ears though!

We had a lot of fun playing this game with them and they really enjoyed the game. Matter of fact, they took the game home with them as Cam is having a sleepover for his Birthday next weekend and he wants to use the game at his sleepover party.
