I suffer with chronic pain and have discussed my medical issues here on the blog several times over the years. For those of you who are new here…I suffer with a rare genetic disease called Porphyria, Epilepsy and other medical problems. I’m 51 years old and have had 48 surgeries, including a total hip replacement and more recently a total knee replacement. The reason I’m divulging this information is because I want you all to realize that I know what chronic pain is and I openly admit that I suffer with it.

Last month I asked my husband if we could remodel our master bedroom and if we could get a new mattress set. Thankfully, he agreed that it was time to do an upgrade. We then proceeded to move the majority of our bedroom furniture and items into storage (the basement) and start sleeping in one of our guest rooms until the remodel product was finished. At the time of this post our master bedroom has received new carpeting, a new coat of paint onto the walls and this weekend he’ll be installing new lighting. We look forward to moving back into our master bedroom once everything has been completed.

What’s really nice is that delivery is made to your front door, so you don’t have to find someone with a truck and lug it out of a store. When it arrives you’ll find it rolled up nice & tight and in a heavy-duty storage bag. In our opinion, its a lot lighter than a traditional mattress!

On a scale of firmness the mattress comes in at a 6-7 (just right) with 1 being too soft and 10 being too firm. I would agree 100% with that rating. It will work with all bed types: on a box spring, slatted framed, adjustable beds, platform beds, etc. We have our’s right now on a box spring in one of our guest bedrooms, but once we move back into our master bedroom we’ll be placing it on the box spring that’s on our adjustable bed.
From the very first night that we slept on our new mattress we were impressed! Its like no other mattress that we’ve ever owned! As soon as you climb in and get into your favorite sleeping position you’ll feel comfortable and relaxed. I like a bed with “cushioning” and hubby likes “moderate support” and this mattress works for both us! Next, as a woman who’s going through menopause, I find that I’m sleeping cooler and not having those nasty night sweats like I was! That’s a huge plus for me!!!
The two of us find that we’re falling asleep faster and staying asleep for longer periods of time. We both agree that our bodies ache a lot less and that we feel we’re getting more of a deep sleep at night. We feel totally refreshed in the morning. Another plus is that when one of us gets out of bed at night to use the restroom, we’re not disturbing the other person who’s sleeping. Yay!

Last month we purchased new furniture for our living room and moved our old furniture into our family room. Our sofa and chair were purchased 10 years ago and still in great shape. The only problem…my grandchildren have spilled some things on our one chair and it left stains. Other than that, no issues with the chair.

For this review we selected the Jacquard Spandex Polyester Stretch Checked Sofa Chair Slip Cover from DECONOVO to try out for all of you. This slipcover is available in various sizes to fit any sofa, chair, recliner or loveseat that you may have. It’s available in 12 different colors to match any decor. It came with a great lint brush (shown below) too!
We selected the slipcover for our chair in the neutral color of beige and we selected the style to fit a 32″ to 47″ chair. One of the things I love about this slipcover is that it’s a one-piece cover and took me less than 3 minutes to put onto the chair. That’s right, less than 3 minutes and I was done!
It’s easy-care…meaning that you can machine wash it and tumble dry on low or line dry. This slipcover is really stretchy and I love that. You can stretch it to fit on an over-size chair in just about any shape. After I had it onto the chair I simply tucked it in around the cushion and I was done. It looks like it was custom-made to fit that chair!
The “hand” to this slipcover is super-soft and I mean soft! It feels like the softest baby’s blanket against your skin. I would describe it as being made out of a medium-weight fabrication…not too thin, nor too thick. Just right! I really like the checked pattern which adds a little bit of texture and interest to the fabric.
I’ve included before and after photos in my post today of our old chair. Sorry about the lighting, our small family room really stinks in regards to natural sunlight. As you can see, that slipcover gave our old chair a totally new look! The chair now looks modern, clean and updated. You would never know that there is a 10+ year old chair underneath it. Isn’t it pretty? I love it!
