Home Decorating Tip – Use Alternative Items for Curtain Tie-Backs

I decorate my home in a coastal and beach style. While I love this particular decorating style, it can be quite pricey to decorate this way. It’s especially true when you live in the middle of Amish Country, Pennsylvania where country decor is all of

Frugal Finds – Storage Bins for the Kitchen and Pantry

Frugal Finds – Storage Bins for the Kitchen and Pantry

Frugal Finds and Hot DealsOver the past few weeks I’ve been working on giving my kitchen a good “deep cleaning”, down-sizing my kitchen goodies and then re-organizing everything that I decided to keep. At first I thought this project would just take me a few hours on a weekend, but it’s turned out to be a three week ordeal. Sigh.

Anyway…My kitchen is decorated in beach and coastal decor. I just love anything and everything to do with the beach! I went through all of my plastic storage containers, canning equipment and cookbooks last weekend and downsized them by 70%. What I didn’t want, I gave away and some things I donated to Goodwill. It’s amazing how much stuff I was hoarding in my kitchen that I really didn’t need!

I headed to my local A.C. Moore’s store to look for some baskets and/or storage bins as I had some things I wanted to get organized. While browsing around, I found these “coastal design” storage bins on sale for 60% off. That brought each one down to around $5.50 a piece and I really love the look of them. I purchased four of them and brought them home.

Coastal Beach Storage Bins for the Home

One of the storage bins is holding my plastic containers and lids that I use for leftovers in my refrigerator/freezer. Another bin is holding some extra kitchen linens and a third is holding some bulky kitchen utensils and tools. I placed those three bins on a shelf in my pantry closet. The fourth bin (shown in the photograph) is now being used to hold about a dozen cookbooks that I frequently use. I put it on a shelf on my microwave cart, so now my everyday cookbooks are neatly organized and within easy reach.

For $5.50 each, these storage bins are really nice! They have rigid sides and a rigid bottom. They are then covered in a tan canvas material and the stamped beach design is on the front (seashell design). Each of the sides have a metal ring handle. They’re the perfect “medium size” to hold all kinds of things. I’m going to go back and see if they have a few more. I could certainly fill them up with additional goodies, to keep things neatly stored in my pantry closet. Plus, I think they look a whole lot nicer than plastic storage containers! Yay me!

So, did you find any new clearance deals, bargains, flea market finds, etc. this past week? If so, tell me about them! I love a good deal!

Fun Frugal Finds: Fall and Autumn Home Decor

Fun Frugal Finds: Fall and Autumn Home Decor

Frugal Finds and Hot DealsThree weeks I ran into my local A.C. Moore’s craft store to pick up a few bottles of craft paint. While I was in there…I browsed around the store to see what kind of deals that I could fine. You all know me, I’m a frugal girl who loves to find things at a bargain price.

Well, on the day that I was there they had a big bin full of flameless pillar candles. I love flameless candles and have them all over my home. I found some nice flameless pillar candles with a 4-6 hour timer feature on clearance for $3.00 and $4.00 each. The one’s that have the timer always cost more, so I was pretty happy to pick up two new candles for $3.00 each!

Autumn and Fall Silk Candle Rings & Pillar Candles

I was checking out their Autumn and Fall home decor section and spotted this really pretty medium-sized candle ring that was being offered at 60% off. I picked up two of them for $4.00 each!

In their “loose” silk floral section they had some Fall and Autumn picks being offered at 60% off too. I picked up some burnt orange and tan & ivory silk fall flower stems for $1.00 each pick (each one has four flowers) and then I got the fall berries pick for $1.00 too. Not sure if I’ll toss them into a vase or add them to some other’s that I have and make a door wreath. Not sure, but that was a fabulous price for really nice quality silk flowers.

While I was in there I did pick up my 12 bottles of craft paint, some wooden emergency vehicles for my grandson, three $1.00 Fall craft kits for my granddaughter, a new clasp for a necklace that I broke (hubby is going to fix it with the new clasp) and a few other things. With that said, everything that I bought and I mean EVERYTHING that I bought was on sale (deeply discounted) or on final clearance. Yup, that’s how I roll. LOL

So, did you find any good clearance deals, bargains, flea market or yard sale finds this past week? If so, tell me about them!
