Fun, Frugal, Finds – Back to School Clothing for Kids!

We’re approaching the end of July now and we’ve already started our back-to-school shopping for the Princess. Every school year I sit down and go through my finances and then I set a budget on what I’ll spend. I’m pretty frugal, but I like her

Fun Frugal Finds: Wicker Rattan Storage Ottoman

Fun Frugal Finds: Wicker Rattan Storage Ottoman

Frugal Finds and Hot DealsTime for another Fun Frugal Finds post! For the past year I’ve been wanting one of those storage ottomans that you see in a lot of the retail stores. However, I didn’t want one of those cheap collapsible, folding ones. I wanted a good-quality one that would last me for years.

Like most women, I have a lot of shoes and my bedroom closet is pretty small. In the past, I had to switch out my seasonal shoes and store my non-seasonal ones in the attic. On top of that, I found myself tossing shoes underneath my bed or on my closet floor.

I’ve seen plenty of storage ottomans that I liked, but the ones that I liked were out of my price range. I’m so grateful that I have some patience, because on President’s Weekend I found a bargain! Yup, a bargain!

The local furniture store had all of their ottomans for 50% off the lowest ticketed price. I found the perfect one for my coastal-style bedroom and it was marked down to $69.95 (from $99.99) and then I got 50% off the lowest price…bringing it down to $34.99. The real bonus…I had received a $25.00 gift card at Christmas, so out of pocket only cost me $10.00 plus tax. Yipppeee!

Fun Frugal Finds: Wicker Rattan Storage Ottoman

It’s an over-sized storage ottoman that is extremely sturdy. It’s the perfect size to hold about a dozen pairs of shoes & boots, along with a few of my hoodies. I can sit on the top of it and put my boots & shoes on too. I really LOVE how it looks and it’s a great way to keep all of my current season shoes in one place…nicely stored and out-of-sight!

I’m pretty excited about my newest bargain deal that I was able to snatch up. So, what about you? Any good deals and/or bargains lately?

Fun Frugal Finds: Coastal Pottery and Collectibles

Fun Frugal Finds: Coastal Pottery and Collectibles

Frugal Finds and Hot DealsI love going out and shopping for deals and bargains. Finding them isn’t too hard, you just need to know where and when to look. On top of that, you need to be patient with hunting down what you want and at a bargain price!

A few weeks ago we went to Saturday’s Market which is Pennsylvania’s largest indoor & outdoor flea market & farmer’s market. It’s located in Harrisburg and is open every Saturday (inside & outside) and on Sunday (outside) year-round.

Coastal Design Pottery Planter

As you all know, I decorate both of my homes in a beach & coastal style. I find that type of decor to be soothing, relaxing and inviting. I don’t do too much nautical (which is different than coastal) and I prefer the neutral colors with just some colorful accents.

On this recent trip to Saturday’s Market (The Flea) I found this gorgeous imported from Italy pottery planter. I’ve been hunting for larger items to sit on the top of the my kitchen cabinets to act as decor pieces. This planter is large and the perfect size to fill that space above one of my kitchen cabinets.

The coastal planter is like-new…no chips, dings, cracks or crazing at all. Seriously, it looks like it was NEVER used!  I asked the vendor how much he wanted for it and he said $2.00 and it was mine within seconds! I love the fish, seashell & coral design that runs around the outside of the planter.

Flea Market Bargain Finds

In a different section of the flea market I found a Precious Moments figurine for $1.00. I’ve been collecting Precious Moments figurines for about 22 years now and probably own about 75 of them. My grand daughter who is 7 years old has already told me that she wants my doll collection, my Precious Moments figurine collection and my seashell collection when she gets older. Ha!

So, for a total of $3.00 I got BOTH of the beautiful items you see featured in my Fun Frugal Finds blog post for this week. What a deal!

Have you found any big bargains or great deals lately? If so, tell me about them! Let’s all get frugal & thrifty together!

Frugal Finds: K-Cup Coffee Pods

Frugal Finds: K-Cup Coffee Pods

Last weekend I finally got out of the house for a few hours to do a little shopping. Since surgery & getting home from the hospital, I’ve been cooped up, other than going out for doctor’s appointments. It felt really nice getting outside again and
