12 Bike Riding Quotes for Inspiration

12 Bike Riding Quotes for InspirationWhen my husband and I were both younger…we loved to get on our bicycles and cruise around the neighborhood during the weekends. Then our lives got busy and we quit riding our bikes for many years. Well, that is all about to change and starting this year…we are getting on our bikes again for some much needed relaxation and exercise!

A few days ago I was looking around on the internet for some bike riding inspiration and came across several sites that featured some great quotes. I picked 12 of our favorites, printed them out and have them “tacked” on our memo board in the family room.

Here are the 12 bike riding quotes that we selected for inspiration.

“If you worried about falling off the bike, you’d never get on.” – Lance Armstrong

“The bicycle is a curious vehicle. Its passenger is its engine.” – John Howard

“The hardest part of raising a child is teaching them to ride bicycles. A shaky child on a bicycle for the first time needs both support and freedom. The realization that this is what the child will always need can hit hard.” – Sloan Wilson

“The bicycle has done more for the emancipation of women than anything else in the world.” – Susan B. Anthony

“Life is like a 10-speed bicycle. Most of us have gears we never use.” – Charles Schultz

“The bicycle is just as good company as most husbands and, when it gets old and shabby, a woman can dispose of it and get a new one without shocking the entire community.” – Ann Strong

“Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride.” – John F. Kennedy, U.S. president

“Life is like riding a bicycle – in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving.” – Albert Einstein

“For instance, the bicycle is the most efficient machine ever created: Converting calories into gas, a bicycle gets the equivalent of three thousand miles per gallon.” – Bill Strickland, The Quotable Cyclist

“Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling.” – James E. Starrs

“If constellations had been named in the 20th century, I suppose we would see bicycles.” – Professor Carl Sagan

“The bicycle is the noblest invention of mankind.” – William Saroyan

Valerie Rogers ChogaFlow Chair Yoga Fitness DVD

Valerie Rogers ChogaFlow Chair Yoga Fitness DVD

** Complimentary Copy Received for Review **

I love Yoga and have been doing Yoga on and off for the past 5 years. Back in April I had a total hip replacement and haven’t been able to do normal fitness routines or Yoga. However, I can now work on getting back into shape thanks to this fitness DVD by Valerie Rogers called ChogaFlow ~ a unique chair yoga practice all on a handy dandy DVD that I can play at home.

Did you know that practicing Yoga can reverse the affects of aging? It can also help to restore vitality, rejuvenate the nervous system, strengthen the body and calm your mind. These are all things I need!

DVD Info: Valerie Rogers is the creator of ChogaFlow, a unique chair yoga practice, done both seated and standing, integrating breath with movement. Chogaflow is ideal if you are new to practicing yoga, if physical illness prevents you from getting up and down from the floor easily, if you are recovering from an injury or illness, or if you prefer a less strenuous class. Chogaflow emphasizes alignment, allowing you to explore poses in an anatomically correct way. You will enjoy the many benefits of a traditional yoga practice without ever having your knees touch the floor.

My Thoughts: As you all know…I had a total hip replacement back in late April of this year. I have really missed doing my yoga workouts but with the new hip, I haven’t been able to do most things that I have enjoyed in the past. I have been looking around at some chair exercise DVDs and came across this Chogaflow one that is for those of us who love yoga or want to learn some yoga.

Valerie Rogers walks you through the entire yoga practice which is done while sitting in a chair or standing up and using the chair for support. This is perfect for people like me who recently had a joint replacement. While working out with the DVD I didn’t feel rushed at all and all of the moves are really easy to do. I love Valerie’s voice on this DVD which is really soothing & relaxing.

For the past 2 weeks or so…I have been using this DVD about 3 times a week. As I get stronger, I am hoping to do it daily and then hopefully moving back into regular yoga as my body heals. The only 2 items you need for this yoga practice is a yoga mat and a sturdy chair to support your body weight.

I am enjoying this DVD by Valerie Rogers and I am very grateful that she made a yoga DVD for those of us who can’t do traditional yoga right now. I give the DVD 9 stars out of 10 stars on my rating scale. Total run time on the DVD is 55 minutes.

About Valerie Rogers: Valerie is a Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher and a Registered Massage Therapist. Her passion for teaching derives from the profound transformation of her own personal life through the practice of yoga. She has a unique, fun, eclectic teaching style which blossoms from ten years of studying various styles of yoga including Hatha, Kundalini, Lyengar, Ashtango, and Vinyasa Flow.
