Outdoor Exercise Tips for Cold and Wet Weather

Just because the seasons change doesn’t mean that many of us do not enjoy to exercise outdoors still. Runners, walkers and even some bike riders don’t let a little wet weather stop them from enjoying the activities they love. All that is needed is a

Tips for Bike Riding in the Rain

Tips for Bike Riding in the RainWhen it comes to fitness, bike riding is one of the best exercises you can do for cardio and to work out your legs. So many people use the gym for spin classes but buying your own bike and enjoying the great outdoors is a lot of fun for the whole family. It is a wonderful way to work out any time of year, including when it is raining.

With the crazy weather going on each day, you don’t have to change your plans for exercising just because it may be wet outside. You can safely exercise in light rain if you follow these safety tips.

1. Dress appropriately for the weather! Your clothing should be comfortable and made to keep you dry and warm. You can purchase water resistant and waterproof rain gear that is specifically made for bike riders.

2. Invest in proper eye wear to keep the water from getting into your eyes and make sure the lens will help cut down light and road glare caused by the rain.

3. Avoid going through puddles and standing water as much as possible. Going through them can cause you to slide, splash water and mud plus it can damage your brake pads. Go around the puddles when possible and make sure to inspect your brakes before hitting the road or trails.

4. When you know you will be riding in the rain, it is best to use a heavier chain lube than what you normally do. Lube is easily washed off by water. Carry extra lube with you if you will be riding for an extended period of time.

5. Slow down and take your time! Remember, as cars pass by they will kick up water onto you. Try riding in designated bike lines and on bicycle paths to avoid cars and other pedestrians.

6. Invest in lighting and reflectors for your bike. Visibility is often diminished when the weather outside is dismal.

7. Always towel dry your bike off when you are done! This will help to prevent rusting, pitting to your paint finish and corrosion.

8. If the weather becomes more than a light rain or it starts thundering and lightening, get to safety immediately.

You can enjoy the outdoors anytime and even enjoy bike riding in the rain, just like you used to when you were a kid. Follow these tips for a safe ride and have fun!

Fit as a Pro with Lauren Sesselmann Fitness DVD

As a child/teen, I was always in sports and it was amazing. It felt great to be a part of a team, working together to achieve wonderful things. Also, it was awesome to see how far I could push myself to be successful to help win. I was in soccer for about eight years so I have always had a love for the game and for athletics in general. One of my favorite things was how healthy and fit I was during the time I was involved in sports. Now, as an adult, I have had that missing from my life. So when I saw that I was able to review the Fit As A Pro DVD (with Lauren Sesselmann, Olympic Medalist), I was thrilled.
Fit as a Pro Fitness DVD with Lauren Sesselmann
Fit As A Pro is excellent because it has FIVE workouts that are only TEN minutes each! This DVD is also meant for places with small spaces. No equipment is needed, but you still get a full-body workout! The ten minutes workout just fly by, but the workout is effective. I could definitely feel it. It has only been a couple of days of use, so of course, like anything, I don’t expect immediate results. But I do get a full-body workout. I even have gotten sore the morning after a workout.

Fit As A Pro does just what it says. I workout in my very small bedroom, and I can do all the movements. Plus, with no equipment needed, other than just a chair and a pillow, and I I didn’t need to worry about purchasing more things… I was ready to go once I pressed ‘Play’ on the DVD player! What is another great thing is that there are modifications for almost all the movements, so the DVD is a great workout for all fitness levels, so anyone can be as ‘Fit As A Pro”!

Lauren is impressive. She has played soccer for the Canadian National Team, and in women’s professional soccer leagues in the USA. She was awarded at the London Summer Olympics. She then was inspired to share her techniques to help everyone meet their fitness goals. It gives me further motivation, I think, to push hard knowing that she is a professional athlete as well as an Olympic medalist.

Staying fit on the go. no matter if at home or traveling, it can be done with this DVD. It’s fast paced, a bit of hard work, but very fun. Very worth it in my opinion to look HALF as good an Olympic athlete. Who wouldn’t want to be as ‘Fit As A Pro’?
